"So, do you think he snooped?" Naomi asked.

"Probably! Who wouldn't take the opportunity to snoop when my phone isn't locked like his?"

"There's nothing on there is there?" she asked me and I grabbed my phone checking just to make sure.

"Not unless he has a fetish for French pastries like I do!" I said scrolling through the pictures on my phone but stopped and gasped at the unbelievable sight.

"OH MY GOD!"

"What?" Naomi shouted, jumping over to me.

"I'M GOING TO KILL HIM!"

"Who? What?"

"PIERRE! He took pictures of me!"

"WHAT!" Naomi gasped trying to take my phone but I pulled it away keeping it to myself.

"Naomi! I'm naked! Oh my God! Why did I date a damn French photographer!"

"OH MY GOD! Do you think Lucas saw them?"

"UGH!!! PROBABLY! OH GOD!" I threw my face in my hands completely embarrassed and of course upset, loathing him even more he saw me like that.

"I better not EVER see his face again!"

"Thank you, everyone, for coming this evening to participate in our annual Christmas charity event for our city. We've always done things the same but this year we have decided to spice things up a bit!" Margie announces sounding enthusiastic standing in front of a large audience of local participants. Some I've seen in previous years and some are newcomers.

"This year we have decided to have a friendly Gingerbread House baking competition! And our judges are none other than the wonderful editors at Better Homes & Garden Magazine!" My ears perk up the networking opportunities this competition will present for my bakery and I feel a tinge of excitement in my stomach.

"Now, the amount of people who have entered this year would be difficult to judge individually so we have decided to partner everyone up in pairs. The group who wins the competition will be featured in the magazine's Christmas edition. They will interview each of you separately so your businesses will get equal attention." This is the perfect timing to win this competition and get the attention for my bakery, especially now with sales lacking.

"So, I'll be going through the list of participants and you can decide who to pair with. We have supplied some gingerbread house kits for this evening so you'll have some time to practice with your new partners. The judges will be walking through analyzing how the groups are working together and give some constructive feedback so you can prepare for the final competition." Margie added putting on her reading glasses and looking at the list of people.

She goes down the list by last name alphabetically until she gets to the W's.

"Wilde?" she calls and I respond to hearing my name.

"Yes!"

"Yes!" I hear a masculine voice respond at the same time and I turn my head looking down the line of participants until his head peeks through the crowd having the same confused reaction.

"Oh yes, Lucas Wilde and Sydney Wylde. Funny you two have the same last name but just spelled differently. I think you'd both make a great pair!" Margie answered for us enthusiastically, checking us off her list and instantly going onto the next name on the list.

You've got to be kidding me!

Of all people? Him!

Margie finishes calling off the list of people. "The main competition will be held in three weeks, the week before Christmas, so you'll have plenty of time to practice your skills." Margie called out as the groups dispersed to the made-up tables arranged with pre-built gingerbread houses, icing, and an assortment of candies to decorate with.
