They spend half the night in the small studio working and trying out verses, for several songs and Yoongi feels better after getting some of it out of his system. He has lines and words pent up inside him and it's nice to have other people to work with to help bring them out and even to make them better. Working with Hoseok and Namjoon isn't like work, it's like being around brothers, really, people who have a shared history and just get you on a deeper level. They're more like brothers in that way than Hyun-woo is. As they walk out into the hall, trying to be quiet to not wake the others, he shuts the door to the studio, and turns to them.
"Do you want to walk to that food place at the corner? I'm starving," he asks. He should probably get some rest, but he's got too much adrenaline to sleep just yet.
They step out onto the street and walk through the darkness to the busier street where the shops and restaurants are. Finding the open fast food place they go in to order and sit at a table in the corner of the brightly lit space.
"I think Cypher part 3 has taken all my energy." Hoseok rests his head heavily on his hand on the cold metal table.
"I feel really energized from it. I wish we could perform it live." Having only performed with BTS a few times, Yoongi is itching to get in front of an audience again.
"We get to do something for our anniversary, but that can only be songs from the first album." Namjoon says sipping on his drink.
"I really want to do more shows, can't we ask about doing a real tour?" Yoongi knows Namjoon has a lot of say in the direction and the plans for the group. A woman behind the counter calls out the first order and Namjoon leaves to get his, returning to the table with a tray.
"We should finish the album before we even consider a tour. Focus on the work in front of you, and it will lead you to the work ahead," he says wisely.
Hoseok bounds up to the counter to get his order and returns. Yoongi sits staring at his drink as the others begin to eat their meals. He's not good with too much time to think. He's better if he can be scheduled so tightly that all he wants to do in between is sleep. He can work all night on music, but as soon as he's away from the studio his mind is itching to focus on something else.
He's been to this fast food place a few times, and even brought his brother here once on the rare occasion he came to visit him and check out the new dorm. He was worried about Yoongi being ok sleeping in a room with a bunch of other guys. He'd had it pretty good at his brothers place, having his own room and having Yumi make most of the meals he ate. He didn't have to worry about anything other than training that first year. It was a little like being at home with your family except they didn't care what time he came home and if he came home drunk that was ok too. He smiles thinking about a late night with the other members when they were first getting to know each other. He felt very close to all of them, but feels more comfortable around his rap line members, spending so much more time writing with them. He almost misses his order being called out, stuck in his daydream. Hoseok snaps his fingers in front of his face and wakes him from his memories. He grins and goes to get his food, and returns to dig into the packages.
"You were deep in thought then," Namjoon says wiping his mouth.
"Yeah, I was remembering when we moved into the dorm and that one night we all wanted to go out but the maknae were all too young to get into anywhere so we just brought stuff back and sat around the table eating, drinking and talking." He takes a big mouthful of noodles. Hoseok smiles nodding.
"And Jungkook fell asleep first so you drew a mustache on him," he laughs remembering. Namjoon smiles.
"He's sure grown up since then," Yoongi says. "I wouldn't try that now."
"We've all grown up," Namjoon says, finishing his meal. Yoongi smiles to himself feeling really close with his family of brothers. "Finish up, we have to be up early in the morning so we have to get some sleep."
Yoongi takes a huge mouthful of noodles as Hoseok and Namjoon clean up their trays and wipe off the table. He tries to get as much food into his mouth as he can before he follows the others to the trash bins to throw the rest away. He follows Namjoon and Hoseok out the door and around the corner. They walk into a passage with colorful graffiti on the walls. Yoongi stops and looks at it.
"Namjoon, Hoseok, take a picture with me here." Namjoon looks around at the bright street lights and the paint on the walls. He nods.
"Yeah, this is cool, here, give me your phone." He takes the phone from Yoongi and holds it up above them. "Now pose like you just wrote Cypher pt 3," he says looking sternly at the camera lens.
"We did!" Hoseok laughs and then straightens his expression as they all pose. Namjoon snaps the picture and looks it over before handing the phone back to Yoongi. Yoongi stops to look at the picture as the others walk ahead. He runs his thumb over the screen. Dragging up the contacts lists, he hovers over Yumi's name. It's late. It's really late. He sends her the picture without any message attached. As the message is sent, he sticks the phone back in his pocket and runs to catch up with the others.
The next morning comes too soon and he rubs his eyes and becomes aware that Jin is standing close to his bed looking at him. He looks over at him.
"What's up Hyung?" he asks looking around the room to see that no one is left in their beds.
"How could you sleep through all the noise?" Jin asks.
"What noise?" Yoongi sits up looking around.
"The alerts on your phone, it's been going off almost non stop for half an hour." He rolls his eyes at him just as Yoongi hears another text alert and begins searching for his phone. He digs in the blankets to try to find it.
"I thought I was dreaming that," he says, still unsure where the phone is. He had dreamed several times that Yumi was texting him. In the dream she told him she was leaving. In the dream he was worried, and scared, but also relieved. He finds the phone between the mattress and the bed frame and lifts it to see a lot of text messages from his brother. Scanning dow the list he doesn't see any from Yumi and his message to her seems to be left unread.
"Thanks Jin," he says, letting Jin know it's ok to leave him alone. He opens the messages and reads through what appears to be his brother, drunk, late at night, messaging him to say he's had a fight with Yumi and he's out at a club. He was nearby and wanted Yoongi to come out with him. He didn't seem sad, or upset, he seemed drunk and in denial. Yoongi squints hard at the messages trying to decipher them. the last message is from moments earlier, also from his brother.
'Yoon I need a place to crash just for the day. So tired! 😴'
"Joon?!" Yoongi yells to Namjoon in the other room. He calls back as he walks into the bedroom.
"My brother needs a place to stay, to sleep off a rough night, can he come here?" Namjoon shrugs.
"We are leaving in twenty minutes to go to the meeting at BigHit, he can stay as long as he needs to but he better get here quick if he wants to be let in." Yoongi texts him back right away.
'get here now, leaving soon.'
