Yumi moved to Japan in early June. He was still hurting. He hurt everyday that he thought about her, but he understood that what they each needed was different, and he loved her enough to let her go. He had her pictures, her texts and her voicemails still, and sometimes, when he was alone in their new dorm, he would look at pictures again and remember her. He could touch the lapis ring she gave him, running his fingertips over the smooth stone which he chose to believe meant 'love me', and remember their night together.
He told Jin about that one night, because he shared the room with him. Although Jin hadn't known what was happening at the time, he felt like he had the perspective to understand, being older. No one else knew, although he thought maybe Jungkook had guessed since he came home the next morning still crying and locked himself in the studio room straight away, writing about her almost immediately, his pencil flowing freely to get the words onto the paper for the song he wrote just for her. His writers block, if he had ever truly had it, was long gone. And the fire deep within him to create, was burning as brightly as ever.
His brother returned to their old apartment to live, with someone new. He didn't see much of him over those few months after Yumi left. Yoongi was busy with promotion for the album, and Hyun-woo was deep in the throws of new love. He hoped he could grow up enough to make this one work.
The group made a few trips to Europe and South America that summer to promote their previous album. It was his first time on an international flight. When they went to KCON in Los Angeles, it was his first time in the US, and with the roar of the adoring crowd, he started to feel that Yumi had been right about his career. He was just at the beginning, and who knows where it could take him.
Their first full studio album "DARK & WILD" was finished in July, released in August, and included a song he wrote for Yumi called "Let Me Know." He wondered if she would know it was about her, as she had known about the other songs. He hoped if she did, that she would smile and remember what it felt like to be fully and completely loved by someone even if only for a short time.
In October, Yoongi got his long awaited wish and they began their full concert tour, The RED BULLET Tour. It was only a handful of dates in Asia before the end of the year, but each one had sold out almost instantly. And the second part of the tour would take them all over the world. The Asian leg of the tour had a date scheduled in November for Tokyo. He smiled at the idea she might consider coming to the show. Not to rekindle the old flame, not to hurt his heart anymore than her leaving had, but to move forward, in their original roles; muse and artist. He asked his manager to get a handful of tickets and passes set aside under her name and to leave them at the front ticket office to the venue.
As they board the plane for the short flight from Kobe to Tokyo he looks over the music magazine in his hand. Dong-wook's article appears with glossy images from a photo shoot taken separately. The headline above his picture reads: 'Min Yoongi's First Love Inspires Tenderness In A Fierce Rapper"
He smiles to himself, wondering if she's read the article and recognized herself, and if she's thought about him. He wonders often if she's thought about their one night together. He toys with the blue stone in the ring on his finger. He pulls out his phone, scrolling through contacts, his list now twice as long as it once was, and finds her name.
He sends her a text.
"Come to the show. 4 tickets at the door. Bring your friends." He waits for a response as the plane begins to take off from the runway and before he loses signal. He sees that she is typing and his heart skips a beat."I'll be there, but only to see your new Blonde hair X"
