3rd Pov
The snowstorm has passed and a lot of the snow has melted and Cayde sat outside his room drinking his coffee watching the icicles hanging from the second-floor walkway melt away one drip at a time. Soon Raven opened the motel door and joined him with her own cup of coffee.
Raven: Hey.
Cayde: Hello, is Mora still asleep?
She nods and takes a sip of her coffee and sits down next to him.
Raven: This coffee is terrible. *Sip*
Cayde: Yep. *Sip*
Raven: Couldn't sleep?
Cayde: Nope.
Raven: Bad dreams?
Cayde: Yep.
Raven: Me too.
They sit in silence for a bit.
Cayde: *Siiiiiip* Well this seems like a good time as any to talk.
Raven: *Siiiiiiip* Yep.
Cayde: I will just say it, I am sorry, I'm sorry I became distant after Wakefield. I became jaded and was resentful towards Oz and his mission, and I took out my anger in my work, and I was at my worst in the following months I did things that...I am not proud of, and I didn't want you to see me like that I was afraid you would no longer see me as the man you fell in love with.
Raven: Oh, Cayde I never...I wish you would have told me sooner...I would have been with you the whole time.
Cayde: I actually did come to see you, on that day.
Raven: *Guilty* I'm sorry.
The Final Flashback
Year 4 Day 98
Team STRQ Dorm room.
Only Raven and Summer are the only occupants at the moment.
Raven is at her desk vigorously studying for the final in a few weeks. Summer was at her desk to her immediate right and could tell something was off.
Summer: Raven.
Raven: What?
Summer: Please talk to me.
Raven: There is nothing to talk about, we already talked about the deaths of Ann, and Nick, and Yuri moving back to mistral and Cayde getting expelled.
Summer: We haven't talked about your thought about it especially Cayde you won't even talk about him.
Raven: Well he doesn't want to talk to me, so I don't want to talk about him.
Summer: Raven, he lost two of his friends he needs time to heal.
Raven puts her book down and looks at her friend.
Raven: I get that but it has been months, shouldn't he be healed.
Summer: I don't think you understand the kind of pain that comes with losing a loved one. He also tragically lost both of his parents two years ago and that's a wound that never truly heals, believe me I know.
