It's been a few weeks since "the incident". It's nine o'clock and the only reason I'm awake is because there are giggling, screaming children running back and fourth in front of my door. My roommates aren't here. They're probably all eating breakfast. Living in a foster home for girls is the worst. Everyday it's the same old thing. I have to get up, do my chores, and then in my free time I collapse on my bed and listen to music. I rarely ever eat breakfast anymore. There's just no point. I'd rather get more sleep than let the home waste food on someone as stupid as me. Somehow today feels different. I can't hear the running any more. They usually never stop. I wonder what's going on. I get out of bed and look in the mirror. God I look like shit. I quickly change into a Green Day shirt and skinny jeans, do my make up, brush my teeth, and brush my hair. Time to face the world again. Yay. I walk out the door and freeze when I hear my name. There is couple with a small child talking to Ms. Banta, the owner of the home. I try to be silent and listen to what they are saying "We're looking for a young teenager who is creative and fun loving." I know that voice. Where do I know that voice? "We have a young girl by the name of Lily. Her parents died a couple weeks ago. She's fourteen years old and is very creative, but I have to warn you she does have some problems..." I tried to tune out everything after that. I don't wanna listen to this shit. The man is talking again, but I can't really hear him. "Sure, I'll go get her." I hear Ms. Banta say. Oh shit. She's walking this way. I try to get away quick enough to not look like I've just been eavesdropping, but being clumsy me, I of course fall and make a huge crashing noise. Everybody rushes in. This is embarrassing. The couple is laughing. "We'll take her." I hear the familiar voice say. I'm looking down not wanting everyone to see my burning red face. Then I see a hand. I gladly take it and when I look up I come face to face with my favorite lead singer. I am touching Gerard. Flipping. Way. My jaw drops and my face just gets redder. "So you like Green Day?" It takes me a minuet to snap out of things and I look down at my shirt. "Uh yeah. They're awesome." I'm surprised my voice even works. It comes out low and quiet, but it's still there. Ms. Banta hands the papers to Gerard- I mean Mr. Way- I mean dad- I mean... Well I'll figure out what to call him later. Him and Lindsey both sign the papers and receive the information while Bandit becomes bored and waddles over to me. Bandit is their daughter and she is really cute. "I've always wanted a big sissy! We can play with dolls and play bands like mommy and daddy!" I start to laugh. She is the cutest thing in the world. That must have caught Ms. Banta by surprise because her eyes went wide and a smile appeared on her face. She whispers something to Gerard, but I can't hear. She is probably confused because I haven't laughed since the night of "the incident". I can already tell things are starting to look up. "Ready kiddos?" I hear Gerard say with a laugh. "Yeah I just gotta go get my stuff." I quickly run to my room and pack everything as fast as possible some how managing to take down the posters rapidly without ripping them. I walk back out and Lindsey is holding Bandit. Gerard walks over to me and grabs both of my bags. "Here I got it." "No, you don't need to." "It's fine." He says with a smile. His smile is contagious and I begin to smile too. We hop into the car and I help Bandit buckle up. "So what kind of things are you interested in?" Lindsey asks. I don't know what to say. I'm a fangirl, but I don't want my new family to think I'm crazy. "Umm... I really like music and reading." It comes out quieter than I want it too. Then I hear the opening to the Ballad of Mona Lisa by Panic! At The Disco and my eyes light up. I almost burst into song and then I remember where I am. Instead Gerard starts singing the words loudly. Then he stops. "LILY GRACE IF YOU KNOW THE WORDS THEN SING IT" I start laughing and sing quietly. He turns up the music. "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" "THAT WAS THE POINT!" "WHAT?" I start to sing louder and he smiles at me through the mirror. I love singing. I never got to do it at the home. Soon we pull into their house...our house. "Follow me." Gerard says while walking up the stairs, as Lindsey goes to play with Bandit. He brings me too an empty white room with nothing, but a small bed. "This is your room. We didn't know how you would want it so we're going to buy paint and furniture tomorrow." He smiles. "You can pretty much do what ever you want with your room. You have full creative control." He hands me a small magazine and tells me to pick a paint color. "Do you need any help unpacking?" "No I'm good." I set the magazine on my bed and he leaves the room. I start unpack and decide it is probably a good thing that he didn't help me unpack. I have a lot of My Chemical Romance shirts and posters. I quickly hang my shirts and put all my posters aside for after the paint. I skim through the magazine and decide on a cosmic blue. I walk downstairs and Bandit is running around in a Robin costume. She's so cute. Then Gerard comes running in after her wearing a Batman costume. I try not too, but I start laughing. "What?! I bet you're just laughing because you could never look this good in a Batman costume." He says proudly. I just continue to laugh. "You're right. I wouldn't look that good. I'd look better." He walks away realizing his defeat and continues to chase after Bandit. Today is a good day.
