we finish putting up the tree and are now laying on the floor.

"what's your biggest regret?", he asks me out of nowhere.

i think for a moment.

what was my biggest regret?

"i think not knowing what was going on with daniel and the girl he cheated on me with. if i knew then what i know now, i would've broken up with him before he could do what he did", i tell him honestly.

he grabs a hold of my hand and interlaces our fingers together.

"you didn't deserve that", he says.

i shrug.

"i got over it a long time ago", i say rubbing the back of his hand with my thumb.

he nods.

"what's yours?", i ask.

"wasting my time on a girl who wasn't really in love with me", he states.

i look at him.

"she didn't deserve you anyway".

he looks at me and smiles.

bringing his hand up to my face he tucks a piece of hair behind my ear and leans forward kissing me.

the kiss is slow and sweet.

we're interrupted by a knock on the door.

"dinners ready, kiddo", my aunt says from the other side of the door.

i quickly sit up.

"be right down", i say to her.

christian chuckles next to me sitting up as well.

"you staying?", i ask.

he nods.

"if it's okay".

i smile.

"yeah, come on".

getting up from the floor i help him up and together we walk down the stairs.

"come on dear you can sit next to jessie", my grandma says moving a chair.

we both sit down and my mom serves us some food.

"thank you, mrs. armstrong", christian says with a smile.

my mom smiles back.

"please call me helen".

he nods and starts eating.

taking a bite of food myself, i look over at him.

"this is really good", he says.

"thanks, it's jessica's favorite", my dad says.

he's the only one that can make fettuccine this good.

"so tell me christian, what are your intentions with my daughter?", my dad asks looking straight at him.

i choke on my water.

"dad", i say sharply.

"no it's alright. i have no intention of hurting her if that's what you're thinking. i won't do anything she doesn't want to do and if we do i'll make she she's okay first", he explains.

my grandma smiles.

"so does this mean you'll be over
more often?"

he chuckles.

"only if it's okay and if jessica wants me here".

i squeeze his leg reassuring him he's doing fine.

the rest of dinner goes smoothly and before long i'm walking him to his car.

"thank you for dinner", he says looking at me. "it was really good".

i smile taking his hand.

"of course".

"they like you, you know?", i say.

he takes my face in his hands and kisses me.

"i like you", he whispers against my lips.

i hold my breath for a little bit and without giving it a second thought, i respond.

"i like you too".

i watch him as he drives back to his house and i go back inside and upstairs to my room.

looking on my bed i see the ornaments i bought for him and i and decide to hang them on my tree.

i smile to myself.

my mind wandering back to him.

my phone chimes breaking me from my thoughts and butterflies erupt in my stomach reading his message.

"thank you for a great day, princess. talk to you tomorrow. sweetdreams❤️"

he was a dream i didn't want to wake up from.
