a week later my dad takes my sister and i to go pick out a christmas tree.

"how you feeling kiddo?", my dad asks glancing at me before turning his attention back to the road.

"i'm honestly fine. i'm just sorry about what happened. i'm sorry i didn't apologize sooner", i tell him.

he shrugs.

"it wasn't your fault".

i turn my attention out the window.

christian and i have texted and facetimed every single day since he got his new phone.

it made me really happy, he made me really happy.

i feel like i've known him forever even though it's really only been 2 weeks.

i'm lost in thought until my dad calls my name.

"jessie we're here", he says.

"she was probably thinking about christian", my sister says.

i roll my eyes and get out of his truck.

"shut up maggie", i say nudging her.

she laughs and together we catch up to our dad.

"alright girls pick out whatever one you want", he says.

we walk up and down the walkways of the tree farm until we find the perfect tree.

"so how are things with christian?", my sister asks.

even just the mention of his name gives me butterflies.

"they're okay. i mean we're just friends so it's as good as it's gonna get".

she looks at me.

"but you guys want to be more don't you?", she asks.

i shrug.

"even if i wanted to, we couldn't".

she shakes her head.

"jess you like him right? who cares what daniel thinks. if you don't follow your heart and give him a real chance, you'll look back and wonder what could've been".

she was only two years younger then me and yet she acted older.

she was right.

a while later we finally find the perfect tree.

it was kind of by itself and it was really tall and slim.

"that's the one", maggie says to my dad.

he smiles.

"it'll go perfect", he says going to tell someone so they could cut it.

once it was cut and in the back of my dads truck we make our way back to the house.

"maggie do you wanna go with me to get decorations?"

"i can't i'm hanging out with dylan today", she says.

i nod.

taking out my phone i send a text to christian.

-

"wanna go to target with me?"

he quickly responds.

"yes of course"

i smile to myself.

"i'll go get you once i get home".
-

once we get home we help my dad out the tree inside and in it's place.

i go upstairs and grab my purse from my room and come back downstairs.

"where you heading?", my mom asks.

i smile.

"going to target with christian. can i use your jeep?", i ask.

she nods.

grabbing her keys i open the front door.

"i'll see you later", i say before shutting the door.

getting into the jeep i make my way to christians.

parking outside of his house i text him letting him know i'm there.

the door to his house opens and daniel is there with christian and they're arguing.

i sigh.

a while later christian opens the door and gets in.

"hey jessica", he smiles.

"hey yourself".

i drive away from the curb and get onto the main road towards the freeway.

"we're going christmas decoration shopping", i say.

"so we're going to be there for hours?", he jokes.

i laugh shaking my head.

"i'm not like that. i already know what i want so it won't take that long".

he looks at me raising an eyebrow.

"i'm not like other girls christian, i'm a cool girl", i say.

he laughs.

"wow".

a while later i park in the target parking lot and we both get out.

"okay, so i need a small tree for my room. christmas pillows, and some christmas balls", i tell him as he gets a cart.

"anything else?", he asks.

i shake my head.

"my mom has a lot of christmas stuff already. i'm just getting new ornaments and pillows".

he nods his head and together we walk to the christmas stuff.

browsing the aisles i find some cute pillows and stuff to decorate my room with.

"we always get our own ornaments, you know what i mean?", i ask him.

he nods.

"i think so".

"and this year is my turn to pick them out", i tell him looking at the single ornaments.

picking each one out i put them in the cart and then pick out the color sets of balls they have.

"alright, i just need a star and a tree for me", i tell him walking to where the trees are.

looking at them i decide on a small tree that's white.

"alright, i think i'm done", i say.

he looks at the ornaments i got for my family.

"i think you got more then what you needed?", he questions.

i shake my head.

"i kind of got one for you".

i feel myself start to blush and i look away from him.

he comes over and puts his arm around my waist pulling me into him.

i feel him kiss my head and my stomach erupts with butterflies.

"that's so nice. thank you", he says pulling away from me.

"they'll go on my tree in my room", i say as we continue walking to the registers.

i was surprised it wasn't that packed, but with everything going on, i understand why.

"hey so i have a question", he asks once we get back into my jeep.

"what's up?", i ask looking at him.

he takes a deep breath.

"i wanna take you out", he says. "like a date".

i smile.

"i'd love to", i say.
