You sat on the edge, your legs crossed as you stared at the sky above you. Unknown that Kenma had just opened the door and walked to your calm form. You two haven't talked in weeks, so the now comfortable silence felt weird. And Kenma felt weird finally seeing your face after so long, he knew the last time he was up here that he'd text you. But he never did, and he left you behind.

Kenma opened his mouth, the right words trying to find themselves out of him. Until you turned to him, "Hey." You say, though it wasn't what should be said at this moment it was easing to the silence. "Hey..." Kenma greeted.

Silence fell over the both of you like how it used to those many months before. You stared at Kenma who avoided eye contact with you, which he never did with you. Up until now, that is, "Kuroo told me that you stepped down from Captain..." You trailed, and Kenma made a small 'tch' noise. He couldn't believe Kuroo told you, Kenma didn't say anything as he glared slightly at the concrete roof.

"Why? You were a great captain-"

"No, I wasn't." Kenma started as he looked at you, taken aback at the slight interruption you sighed. "You would've been a great captain, Kozume."

"That's what you think." He said, his voice slightly growing. "They don't need me, Y/n. They didn't then and they don't now."

"But they do! They call you Nekoma's Brain for crying out loud Kenma!" You argued, Kenma rolled his eyes. "I never wanted to be "Nekoma's Brain" in the first place."

You both stood in uneasy silence. "Kuroo also said you aren't doing the best in school either." You stated. "What are you guys, my parents?!" Kenma asked as he raised his eyebrows now looking at you.

"No- We just care about you-." You started, "Oh whatever, I didn't ask you guys to butt in." You scoff a little, Kenma hated that sound.

"I'm sorry for caring and worrying about you." You say. "Actually I'm not sorry...you never called to tell me if you were okay." Kenma's eyebrows furrowed, "I don't think I need to tell you if I'm okay or not."

"What?! After all, we did together you don't think you should tell me if you're okay-"

"It didn't mean anything!"

You stared at Kenma in shock, everything you did together didn't mean anything to him? Nothing at all, from when you first met him, to the kisses, to it all. "Your joking...you don't mean that?" You question your statement. "I'm being serious, it didn't mean anything and I don't know why youre so upset about it,"

"You've just been an annoying person that I can't seem to escape, alright?! So the fact you think that this was anything is funny."

You stood there, amazed at what he said to you. You heard your heart crack a little, you swore you heard it. And as much shock as you were in so was Kenma.

Kenma didn't mean that, he was so upset. It just fell from his lips, he watched as you got down from the edge now in front of him. "To think I was going to tell you I loved you."

Kenma watched as you sniffled, you rubbed your eyes. Kenma thought he was dreaming, you were gonna tell him you loved him? "Y/n...I." Words couldn't form themselves. "No! It's fine, I knew this was some stupid joke anyway." You rambled.

"I knew that you didn't think that we were in a relationship like how I thought we were."

"I did think we were in a relationship, I do love you." They felt so comforting coming from him, it made you want to hug him. But, you couldn't. You didn't want to, even if your brain told you to. You couldn't.

"No, you don't! You like the idea of love, you didn't love me. As you said, it didn't mean anything."

You both stared at each other, tears slightly rolling down your face. When Kenma looked into your eyes he could feel the pain, nothing how they first used to be he swore when he looked into your eyes he could see stars. And when you looked into Kenma's you felt like you could see galaxies...

"I wish I knew you didn't care about me." Your voice came out shaky, "Whatever, you don't have to see me anymore. So don't wait up." You say harshly as you stormed off, tears blurring your vision as you walked out the rooftops door. "God, and I felt something real too when I was with you...how could I be that dumb."

Kenma heard the door slam, and he didn't bother to chase after you. Guilt heavy in his heart he rubbed his eyes, when did he start tearing up? Kenma swallowed back a gulp before he wiped his eyes.

"I didn't mean to make you feel like that." He says as if you were here, but he was only met with the humiliating silence. Kenma didn't mean to say a lot of things that he said those moments before, he wanted to say it was in the heat of the moment but that would sound like such a lie. This was his fault, and now he felt like he'd have to live with this burden.
