You smiled, opening up your blinds to let light in. You couldn't wait till school ended for him, well you finally participated in class. Apologizing to all of your teachers could've given you a migraine if you weren't filled with so much excitement. You knew he never replied but you had a feeling in your heart that you knew he'd come. You even told Kuroo that maybe you both were soulmates, crazy you know. You sighed happily as you looked at the picture of you and Kenma that rested on your nightstand. You hoped things can finally go back to normal.

You didn't know why but time hadn't moved this slowly in years for you. "Stupid universe, hit nighttime already!" You nagged to yourself as you watched both your clock and outside, you managed to breeze past your work. Even if the teachers told you this shouldn't happen again, but that slipped through your mind.

__________

Finally, the sky turned into night, and you quickly hopped out of your bed. Kuroo through your breaks told you Kenma hadn't answered his phone, and you told him that maybe he was doing one of those breaks from phones things and Kuroo didn't say anything after that. You found that weird, since usually, Kuroo fights you on stuff like that. And you and he both knew Kenma would never take a break from his phone. You walked to the building as you had always done, uneasy now. What if he wasn't there? You shouldn't be pessimistic now, with a huff and a small roll of your shoulders you continued to walk to the rooftop.

__________

Cool air hit your face, making you squeeze your eyes shut. You smiled a bit before opening your eyes, you expected to see him there sitting there like when you first met him. Black sweater clung tightly around him as he stared up at the sky with so much wonder. But he wasn't there, you just assumed he was going to be a little late. You then walked over to the edge but stopping as you saw it, a single white rose rested on the edge. Has he already been here? You then pick up the rose, mindful of the thorns. A tag had been wrapped in the middle of the rose, all that had been signed was.

'I'm sorry.'
                 - K. Kozume

You hoped to God that didn't mean what you thought it did. With shaky hands, you called Kenma, holding the rose in your other hand. But the rings that continued proved your guess even more, and finally you heard the voicemail.

"It's Kenma, leave a message, or don't...I might not call back depends on what I'm doing."

You felt your whole world crack around you, you dropped your phone as the beep hit. You didn't care if it cracked or not, you looked at the rose that had been left behind for you. "Oh God, Kenma no." You crocked out as felt your grip tighten on the rose, the thrones pricking at your palm but you didn't care. You wanted to scream, this couldn't be real this had to be a dream. This had to be some sick nightmare, this couldn't be your reality. You felt the weight of your body collapse, why did it feel so cold. "Kenma, please come out this has to be some sick joke, please come out." You called to nothing, even when you hoped that you'd get some answer.

A sob left your lips as you covered your eyes. Tears flowing out of your eyes as you tried to tell yourself that this wasn't real and you were just in some endless nightmare.

__________

After minutes of unhelpful convincing, you had to face the facts. This was real, with a hand on your cheek you stared up at the sky. You could've sworn another one had been added to the billions of them, you wanted to think that one of them was a star. As much as Kenma denied him, he was our star and he would forever hold a place in you. After all, he felt like your better half, he made you better, and even though you didn't know what he was going through you hoped you made him better too. Though the thorns had left their mark in your hand there wasn't anything greater than the mark Kenma Kozume had left on your heart. "I'll see you next life?" You questioned the stars, to which they shined brighter to you. Tears rolled down your face as you let a broken cry fall from your mouth, it was so fucking cold now. You knew why, but you didn't want to admit why.

__________

You had told everyone about what had happened to Kenma, you watched as their smiles fade and turned to a look of shock, Kenma's friends crying while you stood there taking in the wails. What was worse you had to tell Kuroo...you don't even want to recall the last night's call. The rose rested on your desk, as you now grab it every night in hopes that you could still feel him there. You hadn't slept in a while, and here you were sitting on your bed eyes droopy as you gazed at the ceiling. The rose in your hand, it didn't hurt anymore the small prickles that they inflicted on your hand. You yawned an exhausted breath leaving you before closing your eyes.

You dreamt of the first time Kenma kissed you, his lips weren't at all how you imagined. They were soft and they met with yours perfectly, you dreamed about how both of you talked about the stars like they were yours, you first got to see him practice, and you dreamed about the way he looked at you. The way he thought you had the whole galaxy in your hands. You remember the small things too the way his nose would scrunch up in a hard level or the way he looked at Lev if he did something stupid. The small way his pinky would graze yours in hopes you'd understand that he wanted to hold your hand, and his hopes became a reality once you held his hands, like to perfect puzzle pieces finally connected.

At some point in the dream you felt yourself wake up, but not really. You were in the middle of a galaxy, the splotches of purples slouching together to make one beautiful masterpiece. Hints of blues, black and white here and there, but mostly purple. It looked endless, you turned your head to see Kenma stood next to you. Confusion in your voice you called out to him and he looked over at you a smile spreading on his face, it spoke so many words that Kenma knew he couldn't give you before. You reached out to him, you felt his face it felt warm and felt alive. You caressed around his face, you couldn't believe he was here. Kenma leaned into your touch his smile never fading as your vision felt blurry. Eyes welling with tears. Kenma began to speak, his voice sounded so soft like the day you had met him.

"I love you Y/n."

A small laugh escaped you, you rested your forehead against his. Finally, you could say it.

"I love you too Kozume."

And just like that, your heart swelled with so much love. Your precious star in your arms, you were right he was a star. And you could never forget him...that boy on the rooftop.
