Temari is pregnant!

The news

It was a quiet night in Konoha. Temari was sitting out on the porch and she was gazing up at the starry sky, while rubbing her belly. She was 7 months pregnant already. Sometimes she found it difficult to do any chores and that pissed her off, as she did not like to rely on other people; but when Shikamaru, the laziest person in Konoha, did everything for her, she was feeling loved!

With Shikamaru in her mind, Temari started laughing. She remembers clearly what kind of face he made, when she announced to him that she was expecting.

"Eh?"

"I said that I want to tell you something important", Temari repeated looking him in the eyes. They were sitting across of each other on the table. Her teal eyes were looking right at Shikamaru and was trying to analyse every movement and expression from the person in front of her.

"Is everything okay Temari? Did something happen? You seem serious" Shikamaru asked whilst he was sitting up to get closer to Temari.

When Temari understood the nervousness in Shikamaru, she snorted. "Don't you dare cry on me, cry-baby".

"There you go again. How many times are you going to bring that issue back?" Shikamaru stated as he relaxed after watching Temari snorting.

"I will stop that from now on", she replied. "I will try to reduce the times that I call you cry-baby, but I want you to promise me something. You will also try to stop saying ~troublesome~, and you will also try to stop smoking", she suggested back at him.

Shikamaru was surprised by this proposal and stared back at Temari with an idiotic look on his face. "Temari, now I am scared for my life! What is going on? Are you sick? THAT'S IT! You are sick, that is why you were throwing up the previous days".

"Hahahahahhahaha", Temari was laughing like a maniac right now, "Relax cry-baby!! I feel that you will be excited by what I will tell you". She took a breath and she continued "I am 4 weeks pregnant. We are going to have a baby in this house; that is why I want you to stop smoking and saying troublesome all the time", she scolded him.

"..."

"Are you going to say something?" Temari asked as she glared a dumbfounded Shikamaru.

"HUH???" Shikamaru screamed. His narrow brown eyes and his mouth were wide open now. "What do you mean you are pregnant?" He asked while he stood up. 

Temari was starting to get anxious. She didn't expect him to react like that. She could have sworn that Shikamaru would be happy about her pregnancy and he would cry about it. However, right now he did not seem that happy about that news.

"Shikamaru... are you angry, maybe? I thought that you would be happy" Temari said looking at him, even though she was afraid of his reply.

"Angry? Are you serious? I am happy!" Shikamaru answered enthusiastically. 

"Then why did you yell at me?"

"I am sorry but I thought that you were joking", Shikamaru claimed as he sat, once again, next to Temari. "You are not lying, are you?" he pleaded Temari.

"Eh?", she looked at him with one of her eyebrows raised, "do you think that I would joke about this matter? At first, I took three different pregnancy tests, and when all of them came back as positives, I booked an appointment with my gynaecologist, for this morning. She assured me that I am 4 weeks pregnant, and everything is alright", she explained at Shikamaru, who was now looking at her eyes.

"..." Shikamaru said nothing, he just stared at Temari's teal eyes while smiling. Temari was taken by surprise as it was the first time that Shikamaru smiled like that.

"You know Temari, I am not the most expressive person. Actually, the both us are not that expressive. We tend to keep our feelings for ourselves. Others might find it unhealthy for our relationship to be this expressionless, but for us it is working" he pointed out, while caressing her cheeks. 

"We understand its others boundaries and we don't push the other person to their limits" he continued. "Thank you for everything. When you came to my rescue in the Land of Silence, I understood that you were the only person for me!", he smiled with his eyes.

"You left Suna, your brothers, and your friends, just to be in Konoha with me; whilst I am busy as the Hokage's advisor and we rarely see each other", Shikamaru stated with an apologetic look on his face.

"I do not know if I would repay for what you have for me. The only thing that I know, is that I will always love you and our baby will grow up in a loving environment", he paused and kissed Temari on the lips. 

"Well, you would maybe nag him, but I am sure that he will love for that, as I love you" he said and that earned him a smack on his hand by Temari. "One thing is for sure, this child will be loved by many people, by us, by my mother, by your brothers, by our friends, and by his friends" he continued as he was holding Temari's hand.

"I promise, to create a world that our baby will not have to through what we both experienced. Rivalries between villages, pain by losing your closest people in a battle, or what war is" he stared at Temari's eyes.

"That is my promise as the baby's father", he concluded with a stern look on his face.

During the time that Shikamaru was talking, Temari didn't interrupt him and she just stared at him. What he said was true. They are both not expressive, and she left her life in Suna to be with him in Konoha while he was busy and out of the house the majority of the day. However, she knew all that when she agreed to marry him. Also, she knew that if he wanted, he could become a Hokage, but his goal was to make Naruto one, not him.

She stared at him for a few moments with a blank face. After some time, she gave Shikamaru her usual smile that was like the blazing desert sun and she told him "I expect nothing else from you, cry-baby".
