HOPE ?!

Mia stays in her room for 3 days not wanting to talk to anyone. Jack checks up on her worried about her condition but she doesn't have the energy to do anything she just lay on her bed and stare at the ceiling, when sleep slowly draws her in she hears the cries of her family echo in her empty mind making sleep impossible.

She has a bath it's now 11:45am the sunlight pours into her room she hasn't seen the sun for a while, she turns facing her door. Behind the door stands a very confused Alex 'how can I go in my present is not going to make her feel better, after all it's my fault her family is...' He stands there hand hovering over the handle after a while the door opens and Alex walks in closing the door behind him slowly. Mia closes her eyes for a while she really isn't in the mood for a fight, before sitting upright on her bed.

"Mia !" He says in a low voice as he walks to her bed hesitating every step in his mind.
"What do you want ?" she says voice dry and tired.
"Mia I...uh.... Mia I'm sorry " He says not making eye contact he stare at the floor. She stare at him thinking why would he be sorry for.
"Why ?" she ask getting off the bed and making her way to face Alex.

He looks up at her with his apologetic puppy like eyes he so desperately want to tell her the truth ... his truth he wants to hold her and keep her safe but he can't faith just doesn't allow it . It looks like his about to cry his eyes just of tears line the bottom of his eyes. Mia instinctively worry about his state she can't help it.
"What's wrong Alex ?" she asks with a little concern.
"Its my fault, my men couldn't keep your family safe." He says still not meeting his eyes he wants to distance himself from her but his wolf won't let him.

His words make her heart heavy.
"Its not your fault Alex."she says taking a step closer to him, he looks up at her immediately he wasn't expecting her to react like this.
"Its mine I shouldn't have been here" she says looking at the window it's the same line she been telling herself all the time, she stares out the window but completely lost. Alex stiffen all this time she was blaming herself it made his wolf howl in pain.
" how can it be yours Mia there was nothing you could do about it " He says looking at her slowly closing the gap between them.
"but I .. but I could have done something" he says looking down guilt tearing down his walls.
"You cant blame yourself Mia." He says lifting her chin so she can meet his eyes.
"You just can't Mia, look at your state you're in do you think your family would approve of the person you are now, their brave... strong independent and annoying girl has now reduced to.... this." He says imagining all the moment he could of had with her and all the moments he watched from afar. Mia felt like Alex knew her for years that they share a weird bond.

She didn't expect Alex to say all of this she was expecting him to use this as his advantage maybe Jack was right maybe he isn't as bad as seems. Tears once again wet mia's cheeks as his works and her realization sink in. Alex looks helpless at her state and he stand in front of her picking and dropping his hands, before engulfing mia in a hug.

His scent comforts her, her body immediately relaxes and his hug... his hug is like the world's largest pain tablet ever. The warmth of his body heats here removing the cold from her bones and her heart, it refuel her energy. He pulls away as he tries to gain control of his emotion and she feels displeased but not like before. She yawns and water of sleepiness form in the corner of her eyes. He smiles he couldn't help it.

"When have you last slept?" He asks smiling at me. She can't help it, she manages to pull out a small smile on her right side of her lips
"a few days ago I couldn't sleep I... I " she say as she feels the memories wanting to appear.
"Come on" he says gently grabbing her hand as it's sends goosebumps throughout her whole body. He pulls the blanket over the bed and fluff up the pillow.

"Have a small nap Mia" he says kindly smiling at her. Mia slowly gets under the blanket and he walks over to the sofa takes off his coat he wants to stay right by her and hold her but he keeps his distance, he takes off his tie and unbutton the first 3 buttons. He lays down in the couch both his arms behind his head as he stares at the ceiling.
"I won't go anywhere Mia I'll be right here " He says and smiles Mia can tell his smiling. She gives a small smile before closing her eyes, sleep immediately takes her and for once in 3 night's can she peacefully sleep.
It doesn't last, a few hours later Mia screams and Alex's practically jumps out of the bed and straight to Mia. She sitting upright on bed sweat dripping from her body her breathing swallow she grips the bedding as she tries to calm herself.
"I'm here Mia .... I'm here " He says as pulls the scared Mia into his arms. She forgot about Alex, she froze at his action before crying in his arms.

Morning arrived and Mia woke up she felt like it was the best sleep in years she turns to get out of bed but she feels something around her waist it's Alex's arm. She turns to find a sleep Alex he looks so peaceful Mia couldn't help but to admire his features she smiles to herself.
