Laura
The minute I walk through the door to my room I flop right onto my bed, face first. My eyes actually hurt from all the notes I had to look at to jaunt down do today, and my hand is still cramping from all the non-stop motion. I really need to get a laptop soon, otherwise my hand might just fall right off if I continue like this. I sigh as I lay there on the bed, glad to be done for the day. As I lay there my lack of sleep finally catches up with me and my eyes start to feel heavy. Pretty soon I feel myself start to drift off to sleep. But before I can succumb to sleep, I turn my head to my new, high tech digital alarm clock that Holly got for me one year for Christmas sitting beside my bed on the nightstand."Wake me up in fifteen minutes." I ordered it, my eyes closing slowly.
It dings. "Okay, I set an alarm for six forty-eight." It responds back and I remember to take out my phone from my back pocket and lay it beside me so I can hear it in case someone calls me, before I slowly let sleep take me.
*************
I groan as the beginning guitar solo of Arctic monkeys begins blasting from my alarm. It feels like only a minute went by since I fell asleep, but even though I'm still tired, I force myself up and off the bed. I shut off the alarm and then drag myself up and over to my desk. I sit down and put my glasses on and flip open my textbook before I get to work on all of my assignments for this semester. I had literally just touched the pen to my paper when my sister comes rushing into my room, the door banging open.
"Laur! Stop whatever it is that you are doing." She demands as she comes bursting into my room.
"Well, hello to you too." I give her a funny look as I reluctantly set my pen down and take off my glasses. "What's up?"
"We need to go shopping, like right now." She demands.
"What? Why? What do we need so bad that you felt the need to come bursting into my room like a crazy person?"
She puts her hands on her hips and gives me a look. "Clothes of course, and food and some decorations for my room. It's so plain in there. I need to get some color to help brighten it up." She tells me, smiling in excitement at prospect of decorating.
I am torn. I would really like to get started on my assignments instead of going shopping with my sister. Holly has a tendency of taking too long and overdoing it, but then again that's exactly why I should go. If I'm not there to control her shopping, she might end up buying too much. I think about it for another minute before sighing and reluctantly putting down my pen and taking off my glasses and putting them in my case.
I need to get a computer anyway.
"Okay, we can go shopping, but I'm putting a spending limit on you."
She rolls her eyes. "Fine mother. Is there anything you need? I can help you pick out some things for your room." She offers, glancing around my room with distaste at my plain white walls.
I shake my head. "No thanks. Besides, all I really need is a laptop for school." I tell her, getting up from the desk.
She rolls her eyes at me again. "Of course, you do. We can go to Target then. It should have everything we need. Besides, Walmart is always so busy at this time of the day." She picks up my purse from my desk and hands it to me as I get up. I thanked her before pulling my car keys out of it and following her out of the room. I really only drive my car if I really need to. Like if I need to go into the city that's close by or to visit my parents. To me It seems like a waste of gas to drive to my classes since they already had a bus here that I could ride in for free.
