Laura
Later that day when I walk into my third class the Professor waves me over to his podium before I can even take a seat. I frown as I make my way to him instead. I can't help but worry that I did something wrong, or that I'm in trouble for something. I never really been called up to teacher's desk before in the past.
Did I do something wrong? Did I forget to do something? I'm pretty sure I did all of my work for this class.
As I make it up to the professor, he turns to face me. "I just got a call from one of your professors, he wants you to report to him right now to speak to him." He tells me.
I frown.
What? Why? Did I forget to do something in one of my classes? I'm pretty sure I'm ahead in everything in all my courses. I always make sure to get all my work done early.
"Do you know which professor?" I ask him.
He turns and picks up a piece of paper from his desk. "Yes, it's a Professor West." He reads.
For a second there, I almost forgot that Ross's uncle is our professor here too. I relax a little but then my nerves take over again. What could Professor West possibly need with me? I know that college doesn't work the same way as high school, but I feel as if I'm getting called down to the teacher because I'm in trouble, only the teacher is my... boyfriends Uncle?
"Oh, okay." I nod at him.
"He wants you to report to his office which is a few doors down from his classroom. As for this class, we're only going over natural selection. I am sure you already have the assignment completed." He smiles and I nod. I love when professors acknowledge my hard work.
I pull my bag onto my shoulder and make my way to the bus to go across to the campus. Fifteen minutes later I walk into the big building and find the door that has Professor West name on it. I knock on it and the Professor answers and calls for me to come in from the other side of the door. I crack the door open and peek my head inside. Professor West looks up from his big desk behind the door before getting up to greet me with a smile. "Laura, thank you for coming." He says and gestures for me to sit down across from him in the chair. Once I walk inside and take a seat, he takes his seat again. I notice that he has a large swivel chair and an oversized cherry wood desk in his big office. I feel much more intimated by him in this office than I ever did at his home.
"Sorry for calling you out of class. I would have tried to talk to you after our class today, but I have a meeting I need to get to right afterwards, and it might be a little harder trying to talk to you with Ross always glued to your side. You know how he can be... difficult sometimes." He says and I smile.
"It's okay, really. Is something wrong?" I ask nervously.
"No, not at all. I just have a few things I need to ask from you."
"Okay." I feel a little less nervous now.
"Okay the first thing I want to do is invite you and Ross to eat dinner with us again tonight. Rony has plans to bring over your sister for us to meet, so..." He shrugs. "I thought it be nice if you and Ross came over and joined us. We could call it a triple date instead of a double." He smiles.
I am surprised by his request. I didn't know Rony would be bringing over my sister to meet his parents, but it makes me happy that he would none the less. Rony seemed so very infatuated with my sister so it doesn't surprise me that he would do something like this for her. I'm happy to hear that he's finally going to tell her about his family. But I am surprised that Professor West would want to try and have dinner with Ross again, not with how things ended at their last dinner.
