Laura
Rough hands grab me out of my seat and push me to the ground, making me fall on my hands and knees with a hard thump that reverberates all the way up my body. The grass is wet underneath me from the light drizzle of cold rain falling down from the dark sky above me. I dig my fingers into the dirt as I slowly look up into the cruel blue eyes of the one who pushed me to the ground.
Chase.
I don't know him very well; not at all actually. I just know that he is part of this gothic group I see sometimes at the High school. It is hard not to miss them since they wore all black all the time and had piercings and tattoos on almost every inch of their skin. They are very well known at the high school. Sort of like the bad boys of the school. Very bad. Everyone at school was afraid of them, and for good reason. No one wanted to get involved with them. They weren't like the typical bad boys, you know the ones that were always skipping class to smoke weed behind the school or picking on the nerds and shoving them in lockers, although they did do that. The even sold drugs to kids that are stupid enough to get involved in them. No... no one wanted to get involved with these boys because they were mean and cruel. You would always hear about these boys doing something bad like vandalizing houses or some other public property. They were always getting into fights and getting arrested for this or that. Even the jocks, as dumb as they are, don't want to get involved with them.
Maybe it's because they have seen or heard the stories of what these boys do to the ones that do get involved or- God forbid- try to mess with them.
In short, this gang is not the type that anyone should play around with. These boys didn't care about who they hurt or why. Most of the time they would make a game out of it, especially with the girls who would try their luck with them. One time one of the boys in the group pursued this one girl, a sweet, shy, kind of nerdy girl, one they wouldn't usually go for- which should have been a warning for her. But she ended up falling for him anyway. A few days after their 'courtship' the boys had hung a white sheet from the flagpole out front the school with spots of red blood on it. Her virgin blood.
The girl ran away in tears once she saw this, with the boys laughing and calling her names like slut and whore, with the whole school watching.
I felt really bad for the girl. The whole school knew how religious her family was so I can only imagine what happened to her. No one really knew what happened because she never returned to school over the next few days. A few days later her family moved away.
In essence these boys ruined that poor girl's life. So, anyone who had half a mind would do good to stay away from them.
But there were a few who still got involved with them. Whores and druggies more often than not. One's who were too high or drugged out to care, or the really, really desperate. These boys didn't play around when it came to their drugs either. Anyone who owed them money-, which usually didn't happen thanks to their scary reputation- they made sure you paid it.
I actually heard about this one football player who got involved with them. He decided to buy some drugs from them and not pay them back. He was very cocky and full of himself since he was one of our biggest quarterbacks on the team. But he turned out having to go to the hospital because of them. One night he was jumped on the streets while walking home from school. He told the cops that it was just a mugging, but everyone knew the truth. The poor guy got the holly hell beat out of him. It was so bad, he ended up with two broken ribs, a severe concussion, a couple of deep cuts and all his fingers were broken. He had to be in the hospital for a whole month, making him miss one of our biggest games of the season.
