Chapter 13

Ruby sat in the library reading more books on magic. "Alright...ohhhh! Explosion spell sounds safe!"
Ruby ran outside to a secluded area or at least she thought was secluded.
Little did she know she was being watched by a white haired beauty.
"Alright I can do it!" Ruby yelled her voice full of confidence.
Ruby took a deep breath and suddenly her eye began to glow a deep orange.
Suddenly a small explosion erupted from her hand.

"So cool! This will be useful in a fight!" Ruby cheered. Weiss from a far smirked proudly. "Wonder if I can use two different magics at a time...?" Ruby wondered as she flipped through the book.
"Oooooh~ electricity!" Ruby gasped as she held the book up to read.
Ruby took another deep breath and suddenly an explosion and a bolt of electricity came from her palms.

She noticed how the explosion was much bigger than the first one.
Ruby cheered yelling loudly in excitement. "I can do magic haha!" Ruby cheered hoping up and down. Weiss smiled jumping from the wall to the bushes. Weiss walked over to her but stopped when she heard what Ruby said. "Eeeeee! Weiss is going to be so proud! Maybe she'll let me pet her tail! I can't wait to show her!" Ruby squealed happily.
Weiss smiled sneaking up behind the silver eyed girl. Weiss wrapped her arms around Ruby's waist. Ruby jumped at the sudden contact and yelped not knowing who it was. "Weiss!" Ruby yelped in surprise as she turned around to face Weiss.
Weiss smiled happily "you seem to be getting better at magic," Weiss complimented with a proud smile.
Ruby blushed not even knowing Weiss was watching. "T...thanks Weiss I've been practicing a lot," Ruby stuttered slightly. Weiss chuckled at her flustered girlfriend "I'm very proud of you now I came looking for you because your mother wanted to talk to you," Weiss said with a cute smile showing off her fangs.
Ruby raised her brow "what does she need?" Ruby asked as Weiss took her hand and began leading her to where her mom was. "I think she needs us to find things for her...I think it's a few rare herbs for a very rare potion...and it only grows in an ancient temple about a week's walk away," Weiss informed the younger girl.
"Oooooh~ more traveling we haven't gone a cool adventure since we got here," Ruby said with a big, goofy grin. Weiss chuckled "yes, it was fun, but it is nice to sleep in a bed,"

Ruby and Weiss arrived to the front of the alphas hall where Blake, yang, and summer were already waiting. "Hey mom! So Weiss said you needed us to collect some rare herbs for you," Ruby said hugging her mom. Summer smiled "yes, you four made it all the way here in one piece so I trust that you all can get the herbs and return without a scratch," summer complimented with kindness.
The four girls smiled happily at the compliment. "I should warn you the temple is guarded by golems...they come in three elemental types...ice, magma, and earth," summer warned her tone going serious. Ruby scoffed "we've delt with worse," Ruby said confidently. Summer looked interested "you have?" Summer asked a bit concerned.
"Bandits, insane dragons, the howling wolves, and grimm attacks," Blake listed on her fingers. Summer gasped immediately pulling all of them into her arms and sobbing hysterically. "Oh you girls are so brave I'm so proud!" Summer cried. Ruby and yang laughed as their mom hugged them. "Well, you girls should be off the temple is a long way a way...are you all sure you want to do this?" Summer asked with worry.
Ruby smiled giving her mom a thumbs up "we got this mom we've needed some adventure again," Ruby reassured her mom as they grabbed their bags.
They set off riding on Weiss from the cliff that summer had showed Ruby magic. Summer watched them fly off "stay save...please," summer whispered. Qrow and raven stepped beside her. Raven placed a comforting hand on her wife's shoulder.
"Don't worry hun they can take care of themselves they may be a bit dimwitted but they'll survive," raven comforted her wife. Summer smiled as raven kissed her cheek. "Yeah don't worry sum, they're hard headed kids I've seen it," qrow said in his usual gruff voice, but he tried making it softer. Summer smiled "thanks guys," summer thanked wiping some small tears out of her eyes.
Raven smirked "don't worry sweetie I'm still here~" raven winked with a playful smirk. Summer chuckled "shut up bird brain or you'll sleep on the couch tonight," summer threatened with a chilling smirk.
Raven slightly shivered at her icy gaze "y...yes sweetheart..." Raven squeaked.
