Tophs POV

Toph carefully drew in another shaky breath before entering her school. She nervously tugged at the bottom rim of her dress and brushed her hair behind her ears apoun entering. It was a new style of course, but she didnt mind what her mother made her wear.  She could often drift back into her memory and hear the voices of her parents.

"Child. Dear child. You know you shouldn't be around with lower class people! Why most of them only make it to the eighth grade before trowing away their lives!" her mother said.

"Oh, and the friends of them only get tangled up  in that mess! You are to never return to see them again!" Her father said.

This was shortly after what had happened with the jerk girl, who Toph learned, her name was Azula, and her friend, Sokka. Her parents just did not get it. They only see the surface of a person, just judging a book by its cover. But Toph? Do looks even matter.

To Toph it was how you act and treat people. Thats how she chose her friends.

She continued threw the school until she heard a familiar voice, " Toph!" She didnt need to see to know where or who the voice was coming from. A thin smile grew from the line on her face, "Twinkle toes!" She said.

He stopped in front of her, followed by another. "Hey Toph." Toph gave Aang and Suki a slight grin, "Mornin'" she said.  The small but stable group walked down until they reached the school stairs, sitting on them. These were the stairs no one ever went to.

Some years ago a kid with less was shoved down the stair by a rich, uptight brat. The kid had hit his head on the metal railing, and fell down from the top. Let me just tell you, things did not end well. Now no one dares to go near the stairs.

" hey, did yall hear Azula got some one again last night?" Aang asked, "gee, I dunno if the kid even goes here, " he shook his head, with a worried tone tucked in his voice. Suki started to pitch in, "yea! his sister goes here! an' i know her! she is in my math class! "

Toph's eyes widened, "Hold up! Katara goes to our school?" she asked. Puzzled faces started to grow on both of Aang and Suki's faces, "Yea. she does. But how do ya know her name?" Suki asked.

Toph let out a sigh, closing her milky eyes, "Cuz I was there. I witnessed Sokka gettin' hurt. I helped him home and helped Katara an' his friend make sure he was fine." she admitted. Aang scooted closer to his friend, carefully sitting his hand onto her shoulder in attempt to comfort her, "Im so sorry, was he your friend?"

Was? Sokka is still alive. Toph nodded, "yea, he's fine. I plan to sneak outta school to see em' cuz I didnt see him earlier." she told them. Suki shook her head, "wont your parents be mad?" she asked the blind girl.

Toph nodded, "yea, an' its all good, cuz im leaving them. An' im never going back home."

Sokka's POV

(I am aware this may seem a bit Zukka but its still Tokka lol)

Sokka woke on the couch, laying on top of Zuko's legs. He felt sore and all bruised, witch made total sense, since he was bruised and sore. He rubbed his currently dull blue eyes to notice Zuko, reading the label of a pack of cigarettes. ( I CAN SPELL!!!!)

He tiredly rose an eyebrow as Zuko smirked, "want one?" He asked, showing his friend the front of the cardboard box. Sokka, who was still half asleep I may add, was in total confusion, "what?" He got up and sat next to his friend, leaning on him a little. Zuko chuckled, witch could often be considered as a rare sight, " I asked ya if you want one." he repeated.

Sokka finally got it and nodded, "Yea Ill take one." Zuko opened in and got out two, one for each of them. He then lit them both and they did whatt they do.

( oh gods this is cringy im so sorry )

Sokka pulled them stick from his mouth and looked at his friend, "what  happened?  All I remember was you holdin' me and drinking some coffee." he said, tiredly. Zuko shook his head, "you got jumped in the park last night, and coffee girl took ya home."

"Toph?" Sokka asked. Zuko nodded, "yea, not a bad kid." Time then started to pass and Zuko had heated some microwave mini pancakes he stole that morning. Sokka sighed, still working on his cigarette, "You know we have some money." he pointed out.

"we gotta save it Sok! we dont have as much as them fancy upper class snobs! The money belongs to you and Katara, and its for emergencys, ok." Zuko explained, pulling out the mini food from the  small microwave.

Sokka never felt as upbeat when Zuko gave him talks like this. But it was the truth. And there was nothing he could do about it. Once all of the pancakes were done, Zuko came ad sat next to his best friend again and they ate the food. About half way through a knock was heard at the trailer door.

Zuko got up to open it, and once he did, he gave Sokka a smirk, " its for you." Sokka was a  bit confused. He got up snd went the the door the see the one and only coffee girl, waiting for him. He smiled with an exited gasp, "Toph!" he pulled her into a hug.

Toph hugged him back, making sure not to squeeze him to death. "hey snoozles! i came to check up on you." she said, shortly pulling away after. Sokka smiled, "aw, thanks sweetie." he said, witch made her blush a little. "dont you have school?" he asked.

She nodded, "yes, well, you seem more important than what ever Washington did." she gave him a grin. "but what about your par-"

"im not going back home." she finally said, " my parents, yes i do love them, its just that they arent... they arent the kind to accept, ya know?" Zuko nodded at her, getting it very well, before chomping on a mini pancake.

Sokka wanted to say something, but he was trying to get what she was saying. Toph then gasped, " oh! an' i got this for you!" she said, pulling out some cash from her pocket. being blind she probably had no idea she was holding hundreds of dollars in her hand.

Sokka gasped, " for us?" he asked. Toph nodded, handing it to him.Sokka shook his head, "no its so much! we cant accept this much money." he pointed out.

Toph then shoved it in his face, "take it! Please! Its what I want to give you before i have to go find a place to stay the night. I may go back home once more, dunno.." she started to mumble Sokka grabbed her hand, "stay with us! we can make room! We have two beds and a couch! Two of us could share a bed or couch." he suggested, taking the money and handing it to Zuko who started counting.

"really?" Toph asked. "for me?"

"Anything for you sweetie."
