(A/N so snow has been on the ground for like four days so I think it's a sign I should write snow fluff so anyway the next two weeks of updates will be snow related.

Ok so now I'm actually publishing this and it's June but I wrote this in December I swear I'm not hallucinating snow

Peggy raced out the door into the snow. She had bundled up as fast as humanly possible. "Come on guys!"

Eliza stumbled out after her, sliding a bit on the ice but never the less excited. It was the first snow of the year, and their house had the best sledding hill in town.

Angelica came out a few seconds later, shutting the door behind her. She was a year older than Eliza and was a bit more refined... until the snowball flew from Peggy's hand. Then it was war.

She dove behind a tree and immediately started making snowballs. The first one hit Peggy square in the shoulder. Eliza had run for cover behind another tree, but two snowballs hit her before she was safe. Soon, snowballs were flying everywhere, and only stopped when all parties ran out of nearby snow and called a truce.

By then, a figure had started up their driveway. Since it was a long driveway and they were distracted, no one noticed he figure, but it was there all the same.

Peggy was first to the sleds, and quick as a flash she was already speeding down the hill. Eliza was more hesitant, because there were a few bumps and she'd gone flying off last year. But Angelica set her sled down next to hers, and said, "Once you get going, you'll forget all about it." and then Angelica pushed Eliza before pushing off and both went flying down the hill, Angelica laughing and Eliza screaming. They were fine at the bottom, but Eliza almost started Snow World War Three.

The only thing that stopped her (because she already had a huge snowball) was a call from the top of the hill. "H-Hello?"

The sisters exchanged glances and then started climbing the hill. "Who's up there?" Angelica called back. Then they saw her. Maria Reynolds.

"Maria. From, uh, from school?" Maria's red coat looked old and well worn. It hardly reached her wrists. Her sled also wasn't in great shape. And her jeans were soaked from snow.

"Hi..." Peggy said, trying to be friendly but not at all sure how Maria had ended up here.

"Um, sorry to just show up, but, there's, uh, not really a hill where I live? And I don't want to use the school because, um, someone I dislike hangs out there. So... could I sled with you guys? It's fine if you don't want me here, I'm well aware of my reputation." She added quickly.

Angelica smiled warmly. "Of course you can sled with us! Let me just get you some snowgear first. Wouldn't want you freezing to death." Angelica disappeared inside.

There was an awkward silence at first, and then Peggy asked who Maria was avoiding. "Is it Burr? He's tried to flirt with us before." Maria looked away. "No? Um... Jefferson?" By now Angelica was back and handing Maria a coat and snowpants.

"Jefferson is a jerk." Angelica declared. Eliza nodded.

"Well, sorta." Maria said, slipping on the coat. "I mean, they're in the same group." She sighed, and put on the snowpants. "It's James."

"Madison?" Eliza asked, horrified. She'd always thought of James Madison as nice.

Maria shook her head. "Reynolds."

Angelica slightly gasped. "James Reynolds is a son of a b-" Eliza glared at her. "-biscuit."

"well, should we hit the slopes?" Eliza asked. Peggy was already halfway down. The girls nodded, but before Maria could even blink, Angelica was handing her a sled.

Maria gave her a questioning look. "Thanks, but I have a sled."

"That's a strip of plastic two stiff breezes from breaking. It won't survive the bumps on the hill." Angelica explained. Maria gratefully took the sled and for the next few hours the girls raced each other down the slope. After a while the packed down snow got so fast Peggy hit a tree (she was fine) and so the girls decided to make a snowman instead.

It took some work to roll the ball around once it got big enough, and it took all four of them to lift the midsection onto the body and the head on top of that, but after an hour or so, Bob Arctic stood taller than Angelica at the bottom of the hill. Maria was given the honor of stabbing a pinecone into it's face for a nose.

After a few more turns down the hill, it was time to head inside for hot cocoa. "Thanks for letting me hang out with you guys." Maria said, picking back up her old sled.

"where are you going?" Eliza asked.

"Well, you guys are going inside, and-"

"And we've got four mugs of cocoa ready, come on, get inside, get warm!" Angelica said.

Maria glanced down the road. "Dad said to be home by sundown..."

"Your dad doesn't need to know." Angelica said. "And besides, my dad can drive you home."

Maria smiled. "Alright."

And so the four of them went inside, where Mr. Schuyler had prepared four mugs of cocoa, and just gave them the bag of marshmallows rather than try to guess how many they'd each want.

Peggy sank into the couch, careful not to spill the hot liquid miracle drink on her lap. "Nothing better than a snow day."

The others nodded. Maria took a sip of her drink to avoid conversation.

"You can keep the sled we gave you." Angelica said. "Your old one doesn't really.... work."

"What should I do with the old one?" Maria asked, knowing she couldn't argue with Angelica on this.

"Donate it."

"Burn it."

"Beat up Reynolds with it."

"While that would be fun, one is arson and the other assault, so I think I'm just going to drop it off at goodwill rather than go to jail." At this all four laughed, but Peggy was drinking and it came out her nose, which only made them laugh harder.

All too soon, Maria was climbing into Mr. Schuyler's car. "Come back soon!" Eliza called after her.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world."

(A/N so in case it wasn't clear I don't like James Reynolds at all. And I also don't like historical Jefferson at all. I can handle Musical Jefferson, because he's a cool character, but historically he was garbage. Anyway hoped you guys enjoyed this- it's 1100 words, btw, I've had this in drafts for a while. I mean, obviously, it's June.

Bye y'all.
