"Way, have you ever had alcohol?" Kim asks cautiously as they are finishing up their dinner.

"Dude, you know my dad would kill me if I did."

"True.. "

"And what about you?"

"Just once or twice." Kim brushes it off. Although an outsider might see Way as the more reckless and rebellious one, Kim was the same, except he was mature enough to know how not to get caught.

"Why? Do you want to drink?"

Thus, they made their way to a small bar and settled into the high chairs. The music was not painfully loud, but loud enough to drown out the voices of everyone else enjoying their night of fun.

"So... What do people usually drink?" Way asks. He's heard of beer and vodka, and that was about all that he knew existed.

"Let's get a shot of everything, then. I've yet to try them all too." Kim replies.

"Wow. I'm down." Way laughs. He didn't expect Kim to be this bold.

"Cheers!"

They were both full of anticipation. Taking the first gulp, Way was surprised by the metallic taste that seemed to burn his throat slightly. His thick eyebrows knitted and he made a funny face. Again, they laughed and picked up the next shot.

After each shot, both of them became increasingly intoxicated. It was clear by now that they were not just tipsy, but fully drunk, though neither of them had the intention to stop anytime soon.

They were laughing at just about anything, talking about any nonsense that came to their mind, just being themselves without any worries.

It was 3am and the bar was about to wind down for the night. By this point, both were talking in slurred speech, unable to stand straight unless they held onto each other.

Kim decides that it's time to go back to the hotel.

They flag a taxi and Way keeps a protective arm around Kim, keeping the other tucked nicely in his body. Kim also snuggles up against Way's chest, as it was soft and warm, the perfect place to rest his dizzying head. He moves his arm to hug Way's waist, like it was a bolster.

In this place where no one knew them, the two boys felt like they were the only ones in the entire world.

One way or another, they made their way back to the hotel room, where they removed their shirts and hopped onto the bed, too drunk to flip through their backpack for pajamas.

Way thinks Kim is asleep and he looks endearingly at the other, soft features and a toned body. His pale skin made his red lips stand out even more, and in that moment, Way felt an uncontrollable urge to do something.

Way didn't know why he was feeling this way. How could he feel like this for a friend? Maybe it was the effect of alcohol? Or maybe it was like the adoration you felt for a baby or cute puppy, which makes you want to kiss them.

He's confused and the throbbing in his head doesn't help.

Perhaps it was not the itch to take care of Kim, but to love him.

He gives in to a light peck on Kim's forehead and turns away before he can even think about anything else that will make him lose any control he had left.

In the wee hours of the morning, Kim wakes up to the sound of a thunderstorm outside. It's still dark, which means he must not have slept for long. His head in pain, Kim sighs heavily and moves his hands to cover his ears.

Kim never liked loud sounds, and the drinks seemed to have intensified all sounds and lights for him. He didn't like any of it, but at least Way was beside him.

So that's why he's feeling warm, Kim thinks as he notices that he's wrapped by the thick blanket while Way was left uncovered. He moves himself closer to Way, but not close enough to touch him, and pulls the blanket over both of them.

Looking at Way's peaceful face, Kim feels that it's a gift for him to have Way in his life. Way had made him come alive. Even if they were not dating, even if it pains him to see Way devote himself to PhingPhing, he was happy enough to have Way in his life.

He didn't even think he deserved more than this.

Another flash of lightning strikes and Kim quickly moves to cover his ears again. Like this, he tries to fall asleep.
