22. Fired?

-"I cant believe you did that." He laughs drinking from his bottle of beer.

-"I cant believe it either." I smile. -"I guess she just pissed me off way to far.'' I say putting my hair in a messy bun.

-''She deserved it.'' He nods.

-''Yeah, I guess so... I dont normally break peoples noses though.'' I smile.

-''You know.. It was brave of you.'' He meets my gaze, -''You know... I'm going to be here until the end. You can count on me if you need a shoulder to cry or someone to talk to.'' He smiles.

-''Thanks, I really appreciate it.'' I kiss him gently on his soft thin lips.

-''How come I've never seen you around with friends or in places?'' he asks.

-''I just... Its a long story.'' I sigh. I knew this day would come, I dont think I will ever be able to move on if I dont share it. I'm ready.. I think.

-''I have the time.'' He says. -''Unless you dont want to tell me.'' He puts down the beer bottle.

-''no, its fine.'' I nod. -''I'll tell you.'' I take a few deep breathes. -'' I was 18 when this happened.'' I look at Luke. -'' Jane, my best friend, she was very unhappy. I never noticed. I was too busy with school and my boyfriends, like Michael. At first we were all Best friends but then me and Micky dated and things didnt change but I only found out a week ago that she was in love with me, she was gay. And she watched me love someone else.'' I sob. -'' So she jumped of a bridge and I went to save her, when I got her out of the water, she was taken into the hospital and died because she had taken an overdose.'' I pause.

-''I'm so sorry.'' He pulls me close.

-''Since that day, I made a lot of changes. I should have noticed her state, I could have stopped her. I guess I didnt want to hang around people because I didnt want anyone to replace her. I figured it was my fault. so I tried to go with her but my mum stopped me and made me go to therapy, and thats how i met Ashton.'' I look at him tilting my head slightly. '' I fell in love with him.'' I blurt out.

-''The guy we saw before?'' He asks. I nod feeling the heat rise. -''he is Ashton, he seemed upset at the table." He stares into the distances. -"does he love you?" He asks meeting my gaze.

-"I-I don't know." I stutter.

-"Do you love him?" He asks meeting my gaze. I can tell he is hoping for me to deny it but I cant lie to him, not after everything I told him.

-"I do." I sigh looking down at my thighs.

-"I think he does." He gently caresses my cheek making me look up at him.

-"Huh?" I frown. -"You think he loves me?" I feel the urge to laugh.

-"Yes, I've seen the way he looks at you, He couldn't take his eyes off you." He rubs the back of his neck. -"This doesn't happen all the time, Lia. For someone to love you back, its hard to find." Luke says and the guilt fills me. Not just the guilt of pushing Ashton away, but for Luke, I like him but just not in that way.

-"I think you are right." I admit. -"I'm sorry." I say closing my eyes.

-"Its fine." He shifts about. His hand lays in my neck, pulling me closer to him. His soft lips touch mine, I gently grab onto his hair while letting him slip his tongue through my lips one last time.

I've decided that today, I will tell Ashton. I cant keep pushing him away, I cant keep denying my feelings.
After work I will go to his office and tell him.

-"Good morning." I greet the receptionist.
Walking to my office, I see Luke waiting in there with no Jas.

-"Hey." I say. -"What up?" I lay my stuff out.

-"Nothing good, Jas has been talking to her dad who owns the building, she is now talking to my mum and trying to get you fired." He says going through my designs.

-"Shit." I say. -"This is bad." I look at Luke. -"Do you think your mum will fire me because of her?" I ask him.

-"No, dont worry about it." He smiles. -"Hopefully they will fire her instead." He laughs.

-"Hopefully." I nod.

After a few hours, I'm called into Mrs Caters office. I casually walk in smiling and take a seat.

-"Soo.. Lia, I've heard things." She says looking at me. -"Jas told me her story, now I need yours." She says passing me a paper and a pen. -"Everything that happened at the weekend is to be written down." She smiles. -"Take your time."

Right.. Where should I start, if I tell her I rejected her son she is probably going to fire me, but if I tell her that I've going on dates with him and I'm in love with someone else she is probably going to fire me anyway. Well I can always get a job somewhere else, I mean bitch please, I'm a professional.

~Saturday~
Me and Luke meant to go out to watch football but he couldn't make it because Jas drugged him. He came to my house that evening to explain why he didn't show up on the date.
I forgave him because I knew this was all Jas's doing.
Luke and I watched movies the rest of the night.

~Sunday~
Luke and I went bowling and met with Michael and his girlfriend Evelyn.
Michael invited us for dinner at Pepe's pizza and thats where I saw Jas and Ashton.
Ashton is my therapist from a couple of weeks ago, I've fallen in love with him but I don't know if he feels the same way so I've been trying to avoid him.
Jas likes Ashton, I'm fine with that. Jas started fighting with me outside the restaurant when we were about to leave.
She wouldn't shut up, she slapped me and tried to come at me again so I punched her in the face. I think she deserved it.

I pass her the paper that took me 15 mins to write. I feel like I'm at a police station giving an alibi.
She nods looking at me. -"I will get Jas to come here now." She says.

Few minutes pass by and Jas enters the office.

-"Well if it isn't the nose breaker." She snaps.
I look over to her and notice how I did break her nose and how horrible she looks. -"Indeed." I agree.

-"Well.. I have come to decision." Mrs Cater says. -"I'm firing...." She pauses looking at me.
