Kylie lives in a society where people are numbered according to their social status. Kylie is a Zero, the bottom of the social hierarchy. She is doomed to spend her life on the lower end until she meets Jared, a Five. Everyone knows it's forbidden for a Zero to have a relationship with anyone, even another Zero.
