Vera, Kreese's granddaughter comes to California to visit.

She's a flirt and always has been; the girl who grew up training with boys around her goes to a new state to help train her grandpa's new students, what fun huh?

As soon as she walks into the dojo she notices it's a different generation of Cobra Kai, a bunch of losers who look nothing like the students she was used to seeing and training with.

Vera scoffed as she saw a kid with a nasty lip weakly punch another student.
"You call that a punch, lip?"

Hawks eyes widen as no one has ever been brave enough to call out his deformity.
"Yeah? Well, how about you come here and I show you what a real punch is about?"
He replied not knowing who she was and why she came here.

As soon as Vera walked over, she back sweeps Hawk's legs to the ground and straddled him to prevent him from attacking. She leaned into his face examining his features. Brought a hand to his face and used her thumb to trace over his lip.
"Cute lip." Vera laughed. She began to get off Hawk and walk over to her grandad. "If that's your best student you need more help than I thought."

That was all it took for her to help her grandfather whip these kids into shape.
