Steve looks at the agent suspiciously, "Where am I really?" He questions

Steve looks at the agent suspiciously, "Where am I really?" He questions. The agent smiles, "I'm afraid I don't understand." She says gently. I roll my eyes, "Not every woman in the 1940s was sickly sweet like she is pretending to be, I know her, she's a bitch." I huff out. Nick laughs. "The game, it's from May 1941. I know because I was there." Steve gets off the bed and walks towards her, "Now I'm gonna ask you again, where am I?" The agent presses a secret alarm as she says, "Captain Rogers..." Steve's eyes narrow as he asks, "Who are you?" Just then two soldiers in black uniforms burst into the room, and I spring up from my seat. Steve knocks them through the wall and runs through the hole as he realises he's not in a real hospital. I begin to make my way out of the room.

"All agents, code 13!" Is heard through every walkie-talkie as I begin to run after Steve. "Vik, you can drive there." Nick yells. "I want him to see a familiar face." I reply. "He's fast." Nick shouts. "And I'm faster, plus he's out of practice." I scream as I pick up the pace, running after Steve through the streets of New York. He's annoyingly fit for someone who's been very much dormant for 70 years. Just as he reaches Times Square Steve stops and stares at the boards adorning the skyscrapers. Multiple SUVs pull in and surround him, causing me to jump over the hood of one to get to Steve. "At ease Soldier!" Nick's voice booms. " Look, I'm sorry about that little show back there, but... we thought it best to break it to you slowly." Nick explains. "Break what?" Steve asks but before he can reply I yell. "Nick, I told you that if I ran in heels today I'd hurt you." Nick spins towards me, "In my defence, I offered you a ride." I laugh, "Maybe so, but you knew I'd never take you up on the offer."

Steve clears his throat, "Break what?" He repeats. "You've been asleep, Cap." Nick says. "For 70 years." I add, stepping from behind Nick. Steve's face drops and he looks around him in shock. "You gonna be okay?" Nick asks. Steve turns back to us, "Yeah." He pauses, "Yeah. I just uh, I had a date." He breathes. I close my eyes and look at the floor for a minute, taking a breath to compose myself. I slowly advance towards Steve, who still hasn't moved. I wrap my arms around his shoulders and pull him into a hug, "I'm sorry ostenovka." I whisper. Steve sniffles, "How are you here?" He sobs. I pull back, my eyes brimming with tears as I wipe away Steve's, "It's a long story." Steve laughs, "I got nothin' but time." He says and I laugh before hugging him once again. With an arm around his waist, I lead Steve to one of the SUVs.

He rests his head on my shoulder and I run my hand up and down his arm as we drive back to headquarters. "So, what's the plan from this point on Nick?" I ask. Nick turns to me from the passenger seat, "Well I was hoping you'd be willing to help Rogers adjust to the 21st Century." He answers. I look down at Steve, he's so big and yet he looks like the small boy I cradled the day before the experiment. "Yeah that's fine, I've got a spare room in my apartment." Nick nods in approval and turns to the driver, "Take us to Miss Solovyova's apartment." We reach my loft and I urge Steve to get out first. "Are you sure he's gonna be okay Nick?" I ask. "You tell me, he's your friend." I sigh before joining Steve outside and nodding a goodbye to Fury. "Come on Stevie." I say, unlocking the door to my apartment.

Steve steps in and stands in the doorway as I shrug off my jacket and throw my keys in a bowl by the door. "I'll get you a key cut as soon as I can, the bathroom is down the hall and on the right." I say but Steve makes no effort to move. I turn and face him, "Stevie? You okay?" I question. He blinks a few times, "Yeah. It's just this place is huge." He scoffs and I laugh. "Yeah well I'm paid pretty well." I wink. "You can go shower or bath or whatever, I'm gonna run out and get some clothes for you." Steve nods and heads towards the bathroom as I grab my keys and head out to grab some outfits. I make my way to the men's section of my favourite store and choose a few bits and pieces. After purchasing some loungewear, casual wear, a suit or two, and training gear I make my way back home. As I get in the car I pick up my phone and call the most recent contact.

"What's up?" The woman on the other end of the call asks. "Nat, I've had the craziest morning." I say. "Is this about Steve baby?" She asks. "Yes. My best friend from like 70 years ago just woke up and is in my shower and I'm buying clothes for a man, I didn't think I would ever get back to this point. He's living with me feyyerverk." I explain. "Vik honey, he's your best friend. It's not weird unless you make it weird. Now, ignore the fact that he's been gone for a long time, and talk to him." She suggests. "Yeah you're right. God I need a drink." I sigh. "Well I'm leaving for a mission today, I'll be gone for a few weeks but we'll go out after that okay?" She says hopefully. "Yeah okay, I'll see you soon. Love you." I answer. "Love you too Vicky." Nat says before hanging up.

When I get back to my loft I head straight for the guest room. There I'm greeted with a fully naked Steve covered with a very small towel. "Remind me to get new towels." I say as I unload my shopping bags. "Throw some clothes on and I'll fix us some food." I mumble, not looking at Steve in his barely clothed state. "Thanks Vik." He says. "Anytime." I smile and head to the kitchen to cook a meal for a man who hasn't eaten in 70 years. Great, I think.
