"Have you ever heard of Bia?" I ask Steve as we enter the training room. "Uh, no?" He says hesitantly. "Bia is Ancient Greek for power, force, might. She was the personification of force, anger, and raw energy. It's also Fury's nickname for me." I explain as I strip off my jacket and take off my heels, leaving me in a white-button up and a pair of black trousers. "Anger?" Steve questions. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna get pissed at you and blow shit up." I joke. Steve looks at me concerned for a moment before shaking his head. "So what can you do?" He asks. I sigh, "That's what I'm gonna show you Steve, patience." Steve chuckles. "What do you remember me being able to do?" I ask, standing in front of Steve once he sits on the bench.
"I remember you sticking your hand in a fire and you became invisible once." He remembers, causing me to nod. "Right okay." I shake out my right hand and feel the energy in the room with my fingertips. The tendrils from my fingers start to glow yellow before they ignite my whole hand. I form a ball with the flames and toss it from hand to hand before blowing it out. "Touch it." I say, outstretching my hand. Steve runs the tips of his fingers over my palm and his eyebrows crease, "It's cold." I smirk, "Exactly." I start to set my hand alight once more and Steve retracts his hand immediately. "Ow, coulda warned me angel." He chastises. I shrug, "Not as fun."
Steve rolls his eyes, "What else can you do?" I stand in the middle of the room, "I can do a lot with light, um laser emission, light absorption, light generation, and uh, projective invisibility." Steve nods before asking, "How?" I focus on the light in the room and visualise myself bending the wavelengths, creating a white laser that burns a whole in one of the mats. "Bending wavelengths lets me create lasers. Projective invisibility is the same as making myself invisible just with other things, and light absorption is self explanatory." Steve shuffles over on the bench and says, "Talk me through the rest." He wraps an arm around my shoulder and rests my head on his shoulder as I talk, "Well with the fire there's setting stuff on fire, melting things, and general thermokinesis. Although if I could master self-detonation then-" Steve looks at me in shock.
"Self-detonation?!" He yells. "Yeah, if I could explode myself and reform but I think that's beyond my abilities." I explain before carrying on, "Kinetic energy manipulation means I can do basic levitation, and can use the energy of a moving object to destroy it. I can generate water sometimes and I've been able to do some hydrokinesis once. Then there's the whole soul thing." Steve rests his head on mine, "Soul thing? What do you mean?" I sigh, "Everyone I meet has a little glowing blue orb in the centre of their chests. I can reach out and touch it and it drains them of the energy they're using to live. I've never seen what they look like after I do it, or if I did I blocked it out." I state. Steve nods, "Touch mine." My head shoots up, "But it'll kill you." I exasperate. Steve shakes his head, "No. You don't want to hurt me so you won't." I nod and touch the glowing orb, Steve tenses and starts to choke. I pull my hand back as if I've been scorned and Steve starts laughing, hand over his chest. "What's so funny?!" I shout. "It didn't hurt angel, I was just messing with you." I slap him on the arm and he apologizes.
A few days later Steve and I are working out our frustrations. His grunts fill the room as I focus on what I'm doing. The sounds of his skin hitting the punching bag echo as sweat begins to soak his shirt. I stop what I'm doing as Nick walks in, I nod in acknowledgement of his presence as I unwrap my hands. Steve lands one punch on the bag and sends it flying across the room, sand spilling everywhere. He leans down and hooks up a new bag as Nick asks, "Trouble sleeping?" Steve goes back to punching before saying, "You here with a mission, sir?" The question peaks my interest as I walk next to Steve and catch his next punch. Beginning to unwrap the bandages on his fists I motion for Fury to elaborate, "I am."
I glare at his lack of detail, "Trying to get me back in the world?" Steve asks. "Trying to save it." Nick finishes. "Looks like you're needed Cap." I say as I hand Steve a bottle of water. "Vik is already briefed but it doesn't hurt to keep her here."
