POV: MICHE ZACHARIUS.
It's currently the boys' third day of training with Levi. The other night after their second day, Levi told us he ran some tests with Hange to see what their physical strengths and limits were. That way, they would fully be able to grasp how far they could go with their abilities.
As it turns out, they already have very capable bodies. Shoyo's legs are strong and sturdy, allowing him to jump impressive heights and a core that gives him extreme control in mid-air balance. Tobio showed us Shoyo saving a ball with his foot mid-air using his phone, and to say the least, I'm impressed. Shoyo's weakness seems to be that he has trouble coordinating when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, but it's something we can work on.
Tobio on the other hand is tall for his age. At fifteen years old he measures 181cm. He has incredible strength in his arms, his core is strong and toned for somebody his age, and he can run quite fast. Quite amazingly, Shoyo can keep up with Tobio's speed when they run on foot. I forgot to mention Shoyo's seemingly endless stamina.
From this, we deduced that they didn't need three whole years to build up their bodies for ODM gear. They would be strong enough to hold up their own weight, and then some. Their flexibility would also allow for easy maneuvering, and freedom to control their bodies. Fighting should be a breeze for them once taught.
Right now, the boys were going over how to do properly do a kick in combat. As I got more chances to learn about the duo, I've noticed they have a weird scent to them. One of them smells like a strong, oddly fragrant scent similar to pinewood and can cinnamon. The short one smells like a newborn baby and lavender. I've never known anybody to have a scent like theirs, maybe except for Levi. The man is obsessed with cleanliness.
Last night I may have watched them during their time alone. I wanted to make sure they aren't scheming anything, and aren't planning to escape either. Instead, I found them talking about their families, their friends, the activity they call Volleyball, and their training.
Often, it's brought up how nervous they are. It made me realize once again how harsh Erwin was being in this situation. He was taking advantage of the fact that these boys know nothing of our world. Whether they truly come from somewhere beyond our knowledge or suffer from amnesia and delusions, he wanted to take away the chance for them to shape their own lives.
But I don't blame him. If anything, we need to have soldiers dedicated to our cause. Every year, we only get around fourteen or fewer soldiers joining from the Cadet Corps. If we can guarantee at the very least two to join our side, it would be the biggest help.
Tobio swung his leg at Shoyo's face, and the shorter of the two blocked with his arm. It was slow and practiced like a choreography, but it was progress nonetheless.
I pushed myself off of the wall I watched them from and headed into the castle. I didn't feel the need to watch them anymore for the day, and I had work to do.
