"Finally," Kenma mumbled. Not that he intended to. No, in fact, it was as if he had no control over his tongue at all. Yet the word slipped out as natural as a thought occurring. It was odd, sure, but for some reason, Kenma did not refute it. In fact, the word appeared as if the thought reached his lips before his head, and Kenma accepted this.
It felt right.
"What do you mean, finally?" Bokuto asked, somewhat tense. Though his curiosity was genuine, it had been the first time Kenma could sense an air of real discomfort around the captain.
"I don't know, Bokuto. I guess I just felt like this was gonna hap-"
Tetsurou scoffed. "We're so screwed."
Shoyo and Tobio jumped in tandem, like they seemed to do with everything. "What?"
Tetsurou rested his face in his hands- His face painted with a look of frustration not even the most intense volleyball matches could bring out in him. "They know."
"Know what, Kuroo?" Asked Akaashi.
"That Tsukishima brat just had to rat to them about the current global political situation... And after all I've done for him."
"Kuroo," Kenma sighed. "Fill in all the other people here who don't have the capacity to think like you."
"They know we're not nobility."
A collective what!? rang across the office. A jumble of panicked questions were thrown at Tetsurou, and all he could do was put his hands in the air and wait until the rest would listen. Eventually, they realized he hadn't answered a single question, and quieted down to let Tetsurou speak.
"They were fully convinced that we used volleyball to solve conflict amongst nations. That's why they also believed that we were nobility. If Tsukishima ratted to them that major global superpowers have nukes set aside in case they felt like blowing up the world, though it doesn't disprove what we told them, there's a high- no, it's 99%- of a chance that the new group heard our little nobility claim while being questioned, and laughed about it."
"And how on earth did you come to this conclusion- Ah, wait." Akaashi paused. "This was Hange's way of letting us know that they know it's all bullshit, isn't it?"
"Yeah. Knowing them, this was also their own way of keeping things cryptic in case anybody decided to take a peek at the letter."
"Can I ask something?" Kageyama chimed in. The room nodded.
"Oikawa must've explained the whole King thing. They know that it's just a nickname- Sorry, that's not what I meant to say... What I really wanted to ask was... How did Tsukishima and Oikawa get in contact with the necklace? As far as we know, that's what brought us here. Why would Tsukishima or Oikawa be anywhere near it? Especially together at the same time?"
Shoyo exhaled sharply. "Who knows, maybe things were getting bad there. Maybe they had a reason to work together... What if they cancelled volleyball practice altogether?!"
A second, collective what is shouted through the room.
"Okay, okay, let's not get too ahead of ourselves," Tetsurou groaned. This was not going to help them one bit. If anything, they were at risk of being thrown into a dungeon, kept as imprisoned test subjects. Or the same thing could be happening with the group back at the Scouts. The only reason he had decided to go with the whole 'Nobility' plotline was to get some sort of brownie points with the Scouts. In his eyes, if they thought the boys were royalty, the faster they'd work to find them a way home. But now that they know that not only are the Shifted just average people, but their return or efforts for their return could not only be delayed, but cancelled and ignored overall.
