I know I said until AUGUST 11TH, but the questions stopped flowing in yesterday, and I'm way too excited. So here it is!
Hello, my lovely readers! Today, I grace you all with the much anticipated Q&A! I can't believe we've gotten past 60k, this feels so unreal! Thank you for all your questions, I had so much fun answering them all! (In fact it's still so unbelievable I have enough people interested with my work for a Q&A in the first place! :')
I'll be starting with the most popular questions about the book first, then the questions that require less lengthly answers, and lastly, questions for the characters themselves! Who knows, maybe you'll get some interesting answers from them. ;)
Now let's begin! ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧
Q: What inspired you to write the shifted?
A: I can answer this a multitude of different ways, because there is a multitude of different things that contributed to the inspiration behind this fic. Long story short; I was bored. I was bored, and I thought it was hilarious that compared to 90% of popular Shounen, Haikyuu had normal humans. I looked at all my favorite anime protagonists, and you had traumatized, traumatized, traumatized, and little boy who liked volleyball. So I laughed and thought; "Haha, imagine all these protagonists teaming up to defeat a big bad villain, and then you have Hinata. Just a guy who plays volleyball. Wouldn't it be funny to see a bunch of volleyball players fight things like Titans? They'd all probably piss their pants, lmao."
And then a few seconds later, I thought; "Wait shit that's a cool idea hold up let me write that down"
I decided to see if I could find any good fanfiction after that. You could imagine my disappointment at the results. Crackfics with bad writing, fics with no plot, just the characters inserted into AOT with no real changes and bad writing, the AOT cast just somehow ending up in the Haikyuu universe and the only explanation why is a distasteful fourth wall break in a sad attempt for humor, and just in general, no real interactions that truly explored the possibilities of these characters converging in life-changing circumstances. (It's such a weird thing to crossover in the first place tbh, so I understand the lack of content. That doesn't change the fact that I was disappointed!) So I decided; "Fine. I'll do it myself."
A few sketches, brainstorming, and a lot of epic pinterest fanart later, I had three first chapters and a single supporter (apples1or1bananas you were the first and only person who really ever stayed interested in what I wrote, you're the reason I made it this far in the first place, thank you so, so much. I owe you.), and I published it expecting nothing. All I really cared for was writing it for myself, and my one friend who kept bugging me to continue writing who told me they liked my writing.
