POV: LEVI ACKERMAN.
Not only did I agree to train a pair of brats, I now have six of them I need to babysit. It was way more than I signed up for and harder than I imagined. Well, that's what I thought last night.
After finding the four boys being chased down by a Titan, I had a sinking feeling that it would be the same situation as the duo back at the base. It turned out that I was correct. The tall one with spiky black hair and a red jacket had an outburst on the way back because he thought that we were doing something bad to Shoyo and Tobio. I don't blame him. Sure, we might have forced them to cooperate, but it's cooperation none the less. And they looked enthusiastic about learning to kill Titans considering we took them out just to see people get eaten by the monsters.
I sat wide awake in my bed, sitting on the edge with my face buried in my hands. How will I teach six kids how to murder Titans in a little over two weeks? Was Erwin insane? Did he actually think I could make soldiers fit for the top ten in that amount of time? I groaned, seriously considering the possibility.
So I laid out my plan. My vision for those six brats. If Erwin wanted Scout-worthy soldiers, I'd give it to him. Even if it meant they would have to work their asses off. It sucked that we had to rely on child soldiers at this point, but at least the brats had decent lives before they got here. Too bad they would have to throw that away.
I'm aware I made a shallow promise to return them home, but now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I'll even live to do so. A bright light flashing before them, then they got here. All appearing to be caused by a single necklace. How on earth are we going to get them back?
But I know that there is a whole world out there. We weren't the last of humanity, we're just the humanity left stuck with the Titans. It gave me a sliver of hope that we'd someday claim back the walls and find out where all the Titan bastards came from. We have so many questions, never enough answers, yet the idea of a society where I didn't need to worry about people dying left and right... that sounded like paradise. That alone is motivation. It's all I need.
I took a deep breath, finally letting myself succumb to the sweet release of dreamless sleep.

Tobio and Shoyo showed the four newcomers how to put on the ODM harness, and by the grace of God, they weren't as dumb as our pair of idiots. Walking out to the front of the castle, Hange and Moblit were setting up the dummy ODM for the tests again. I surveyed the area again making sure there were no threats and gave the go signal to Hange.
The six boys walked out, all wearing ODM harnesses and clothing. Because their shirts were less loose than the ones they had originally worn, I could really begin to see their figures. And for a bunch of kids, I was impressed. It gave me a little reminder of the status these boys had back in their society. Because the way to climb up in ranks all depending on your physical ability to participate in Volleyball, they most likely had to work hard to get to where they were in terms of status and physicality.
