Ch. 20

Dani Drake P.O.V

I stepped out of the bedroom and wandered over to the kitchen in nothing but my underwear. I opened the fridge and began to search for something to eat.

I gasped and jumped a little as arms looped around my waist.

"What're you doing?" he asked as he kissed my shoulder.

"Looki-"

"It's been about a half hour, I think I can go again," he said.

"Jay, I-"

"Ah, ah, ah," he interrupted. "You promised me yesterday...you said all day."

I felt as he pulled me tighter against him and his naked body pressed against my rear. I could feel him getting harder already.

"Fine," I said with a smile and turned around, shutting the fridge door behind me.

I immediately grabbed his face and kissed him. He gasped a little into my lips, then grabbed my hips, the fronts of our bodies flush against each other's.

I slowly walked him backwards into the bedroom, getting ready for yet another round.

"Oh, best Christmas gift ever," he mumbled as I kicked the door shut behind us.

Hours later, after the sun had set, Jason and I lounged on the couch, both of us dressed now.

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually can't handle any more sex..." he said with a chuckle.

I laughed and pulled his arm tighter around me.

The tv played a movie as we sat close to each other. I could tell Jason was itching to say something.

"So," he said nervously. "I had a gift I wanted to give you yesterday, but...I didn't really have a chance with everything going on. But, I want to give it you now."

I nodded slowly as I took a sip of my glass of water.

As I pulled the glass away from my lips I looked down to see him holding a small, black ring box.

I choked on the water that was halfway down my throat and coughed a little, before wiping my mouth with my sleeve.

"I-Is th-that-"

"No, no, no, don't worry," he said with a laugh. "Not what you think."

I nodded as I gathered control of myself again.

He opened the box to reveal a thin silver ring, with a small diamond crowned on the top.

"Babs gave me the idea when we were talking a few weeks back," he said as he fiddled with the lid of the box. "It's called a promise ring. With it, should you choose to accept, I'm supposed to make a promise to you."

I smiled warmly as he glanced at me to check my expression.

"So, during this time we've been together, I've experienced emotions I didn't know I could feel. I've done and said stuff, that I never thought I'd do for or say to another person. But, it hasn't always been easy. We had a few bumps along the road. But, I guess I realized that that's what a good relationship is: being able to pull through a rough patch together and being stronger for it. So, anyways, the promise I'm making with this is that if after several months, we're still going strong...I'll ask you to take the next step. But...only if you feel comfortable accepting that and taking the ring. Cause if not, I've still got the receipt."

I chuckled a little at his last statement, then reached forward and grabbed his face in my hands. I kissed him slowly and passionately, savoring the taste of his lips.
