Dani Drake P.O.V

I turned in circles, searching for something that I couldn't see, only hear.

Maniacal laughter filled my ears, growing steadily louder. I searched the ground for a weapon, to no avail. I crouched down to Jason as he lay on the floor, paralyzed.

"Come-come on, Jay," I said. "We gotta get outta here. Come on, come on. Please, you gotta help me. I can't pull you outta here. I grabbed him by his hands and tried to pull his muscular form towards the doors, but I only made it a few inches.

The laughter became localized as if he was right behind me. I panicked and reached forward snatching Jason's gun off the floor. I whirled around and fired a round towards open air.

The laughter appeared behind me again and I repeated the process.

The laughter filled my ears loudly for a moment before stopping altogether. I sighed gratefully and dropped the gun and returned to pulling Jason.

"Oh, Dani..." Scarecrow's voice said.

I turned back to him only to see Joker's scarred and smiling face only a few inches from mine.

"Boo," he said.

I gasped and stumbled backwards, falling to the ground. I scrambled for the gun, only to have Joker place his foot on it.

"Ah, ah, ah," he said. "We haven't had our fun yet..."

I whimpered and shook my head.

It's fake, Dani. It's fake. It's the Toxin. It's in your system, there's no way to get it out. You have to suffer the effects or...

I looked away from the Joker momentarily and looked towards the tall metal warehouse doors.

"This is gonna hurt," I said.

I reared my head back only to see Joker appear behind me and place his hands on my head.

"What a lovely idea," he said.

My head was slammed forward against the metal doors and my vision went black.

I awoke in a dimly lit room on cold tile, my face pressed to it. I pushed myself to my feet and immediately brought a hand to my head as it ached.

"Jason...?" I mumbled.

I looked around to find myself alone.

There was a wide screen on the wall and as I shifted to sit Scarecrow's face appeared on it.

"Hello, little birdie..." he said. "Enjoy your nap?"

"Where. Is. Jason?" I growled.

"You'll discover him in due time...your little Arkham Knight...but, for now...I have a movie for you to watch. I'm sure you've always wondered what your precious Red Hood went through at the hands of the Jester? Why don't I show you..."

I furrowed my eyebrows as the screen faded from his face to old security footage. It soon revealed a much younger Jason tied to a wheelchair with barbed wire. His body already ragged, beaten, and bloody. I watched as Joker slowly approached him from behind.

"Batman? Is that you?" Jason said, delirious.

"Batman's not coming to save you, Jason," Joker said.

"He'll come," Jason said.

"It's been six months now, Jason. I think it's time to face facts."

"Screw you!"

"That's the spirit! You're a real chip of the ol' Bat-Block. Not that it'll do you any good."

"Why won't you just kill me?"
