(Y/N) POV
I woke up this morning half-expecting the two lady's to already be awake...they were still passed out at 8 am.
I took this chance to put the gifts under the tree and I started making pancakes. They must have been hungry because they both came into the kitchen at the same time
"Merry Christmas," I say as I slide plates with pancakes in front of them. They repeated the phrase to me and I sat down with them to eat. We finished pretty quickly and I put the dishes away
"I think there's something under the tree," I tell the two as they give me confused looks.
"Go ahead, check it out," I say as I follow them.
We turned the corner to the living room and Caroline stopped in her tracks when she saw...meanwhile Nancy continued walking to the tree to investigate.
"Thank you," Caroline says under her breath
"This is too much to ask for," She continues
"Go up, enjoy it with your daughter," I say as she smiles
"I really am happy...I've always wanted to celebrate Christmas with her...but I never could," she says say as we approach Nancy.
"So what are these?" Nancy asks as I frown. A kid her age who doesn't even know Christmas, I can see that Caroline is ashamed. But I put on a smile and explain to her.
Then I handed her a giant box that was bigger than she was for Pete's sake.
"Is this really for me?" Nancy says as I nod. She starts carefully ripping the wrapping paper off the box and it was just a normal box.
"Go, on, open it," I tell her as she lays the box on its side and the top. Soon after she pulls a giant teddy bear and looks at it with wonder
"Is this mine?" She asks again as I laugh a bit
"Yes it's yours," I say as she touches it
"It's so soft," She says as Caroline crawls to her and hugs her
"Mom," Nancy says before being engulfed in a hug. Caroline had tears swelling up in her eyes.
I can't imagine not being able to provide Christmas to a child. She must have felt so guilty and she couldn't do anything about it.
"I got more stuff," I say as I pass Caroline her wrapped cooking gifts and I passed Nancy a few more things such as books and whatnot
They looked happy as they opened them.
"I'm sorry I couldn't give you anything," She says as I wave it off
"No issue, I haven't celebrated Christmas in a long time," I say as Nancy looks at me
"Thank you," she says as she hugs me...I think this is the first time I've been hugged by her...unless I'm misremembering something.
"Mommy looks really happy," she whispers in my ear as I smile. She releases me and goes back to her gifts.
"Oh, I almost forgot something," I say as I walk to my room to grab two stockings. I passed one to Nancy and one the Caroline
"(Y/N), you really don't need to do this," she says as shaking my head
"I was told once that if I didn't celebrate Christmas when people were over, that I would be practically hung for treason," I say as Caroline chuckles
"The person who told you that sounds like a nice person," Caroline says as she watches just how joyful her daughter is
"She was....she really was," I say as I fight my tears back.
"I also brought a Ham for dinner," I tell her as she looks at me
"You know I love Ham," She says
"Wonderful, now that you all have all this cooking stuff...I expect something to die for," I say as she smiles
"Done deal," She replies as she starts packing her new cooking utensils to the kitchen.
"You want some help?" I ask Nancy as she looks at me with wide eyes
"Is all this candy really for me?" She asks as I laugh a bit
"Of course, it's your stocking," I say as she grins
"But don't eat it all, I don't want your perfect teeth to rot away," I say as she smiles. She really did have perfect teeth, I guess that's one thing Caroline made sure of, that Nancy wouldn't regret not brushing her teeth in the future.
"Come on, I'll help you," I say as I haul her big stuffy to her room.
"Thank you," she says behind me
"I really like it," She adds
"I figured you would," I say as I drop it off.
I helped Caroline with the dinner as we made it. Eventually, it was done and we ate it. There wasn't much going on other than the fact that Caroline is a good cook.
"Thank you," I say when I'm finished
"No, thank you. Me and Nancy had a lot of fun today," She says
"Yea," I mutter
"Do you not have any family?" She asks
"I do, but I haven't talked to them in a long while," I say as she frowns
"I bet they were as generous as you," she says
"No, they're not," I say laughing a bit. She looks at me curiously
"Trust me, they're terrible," I say. My parents basically disowned me when I married young. They had planned a marriage with some billionaire family. But I married before that could happen and we got in a fight.
"Oh, must have been tough," She says not asking for any details and I shake my head
"Wasn't tough at all," I say as I remember.
Caroline didn't push further as we finished cleaning up.
"I guess I've been a closed book eh," I mutter as she nods a bit
"I'd like to take you a place tomorrow...it's a special place to me," I say
"Ok, I'll tell Nancy," she says
"Up to you....you don't need to go," I say quickly as she waves me off
"It's the least we can do," She says.
"Hmm, well. Have a good sleep," I say as I head to my room.
"I think this was a pretty decent Christmas," I mutter as I shut the light off
Merry Christmas
