(Y/N) POV
I woke up in a hospital bed.
"Oh," I begin to say before I see Nancy on my bedside.
She was must have fallen asleep holding my hand. She's a good kid.
I look around the room to see Caroline slumped in a chair asleep as well.
"Bunch of sleeping ladies...what did I do last night," I joke to myself as I relax. My head was hurting pretty bad. I'm guessing I must have a concussion.
I spot a nurse sneaking into the room as she sees I'm awake
"How are you feeling?" She whispers
"Except for my headache, pretty good," I tell her and she smiles and nods
"You had a mild concussion," she tells me as I nod
"I figured as much," I say as she giggles a bit
"What a wonderful family you three are," she mutters as she leaves.
I look at the two girls. I've I didn't know better, or if I had lost my memory. I totally would mistake them for my family.
I feel Nancy stir a little as she wakes up.
She looks around for a bit confused. And then her eyes land on me and they brighten right up.
She was about to yell but I put my finger to my lips telling her to be quiet before I point to her mother
"Your mom is still sleeping so be quiet," I say as Nancy smiles ear to ear
"You were soooo coooollll!" She says excitedly as I raise my brow in confusion
"You one punched that guy!" She says as I chuckle a bit
"I'm a Detective...I need to know how to defend myself," I say as she smiles and is almost bouncing from her energy.
"Just calm down," I say as she listens.
We converse for a while until Caroline wakes up
"Finally awake," I say as she looks at me
"Your feeling ok?" She asks as she stands up
"The best I've ever felt," I joke as she frowns
"You took quite the tumble," she says as I brush it off
"Where's the doctor, I wanna go home," I mutter as she laughs a bit
"We'd be home right now if you woke up sooner," she says with a smile
"You were the one sleeping," I shot back with my own grin
Our exchange of words was cut short when the door opened
"Hello, glad to see your awake," a female doctor says as she starts explaining a bunch of stuff to me. I couldn't make sense of the majority of medical terms she was saying.
But all I got out of it, was take it easy. And take these pills every day
After that, they sent us on our way.
Since I was concussed, I couldn't drive...not like my car was in the parking lot anyway.
We took a cab and went home
"Is this your first time?" The Cab driver asks Nancy as she smiles and looks around.
I guess Nancy has never taken a Cab before...expected at this point to be honest
When we arrived home, I found the house was a mess. The front door area was all out of alignment from when I fell. And the kitchen was a mess.
"Jee did a hurricane came through," I mutter as Caroline and I start cleaning. She did most of the work. Every 2nd minute she was telling me to stop and take a break. I sometimes listened...I sometimes didn't
Eventually, the house was all cleaned up and I sat down on the couch
It felt nice to sit down after an hour or two of cleaning.
Caroline joined me in the living room
"So what's up with the Lawyer?" I ask as Caroline thinks
"I think she is coming by in two days," she responds
"And what about that guy?" I ask
"The police were called and they hauled him away," she answers
"I see, so next time we shouldn't get unexpected visitors?" I ask as she nods
"Great," I say as I look for the TV remote. I forgot where I put it.
I eventually find it, and I turn on a movie. It was only midday, but that never stopped anyone
After an hour, Nancy decided to join us and we all watched multiple movies together.
A few hours in and Nancy was passed out snuggling with Caroline
Around dinner time, Caroline carefully shifted Nancy's weight from herself...to me
"Enjoy," she says as she goes to make dinner.
Nancy was still sound asleep with her head resting on my shoulder.
I played with her hair a bit, I don't know why, I just did. I braided some of it, undid it, only to do it again. It was hypnotizing
"Dinner," Caroline whispers after a while
I nod
"Wakey wakey," I say to Nancy as I shake her a bit
It didn't take long until she was awake. She sits up straight and stretched as she yawns
"Dinner," I say as she gets up and rubs her stomach
"I'm hungry," she says looking at me as she smiles
"If your hungry go eat," I say as she giggles and goes to the table.
I follow suit and we eat dinner. The table was quiet, but I think we all were focused on eating.
"Thank you," I say as I finish. Nancy does the same and Caroline takes her plate
Nancy heads to her room and Caroline and I clean up
"How was that for a lazy day," I say as she laughs
"It was nice...and seeing Nancy get close to a man...it's nice," she begins
"I was scared that her father would emotion scar her for the rest of her life...but I'm glad to see how close she is to you," Caroline says as I smile
"She's a sweet girl," I say as Caroline agrees
"I just hope she can enjoy the world, instead of whatever was happening before," I say as Caroline frowns
"But hey, your free now.....or almost," I say as she nods
"I don't imagine you'll have a hard time avoiding jail time, with both mine and the Chief's opinion as it is. Along with a solid case. You'll be fine," I say as she smiles a little
"Thanks," she mutters
"It's the truth," I say as she nods.
We finish cleaning up and we both head to our respected rooms and go to sleep
