Naptime

(Y/N) POV

"Bye!" Nancy says as we drop her off at school.

I decided to go with Caroline to drop Nancy off to school today. It's already been a week and she was doing just fine with her peers.

"Homebound," I mutter as Caroline stops me

"There's a sale going on at a grocery store along the way, I figure we should check it out," she explains

"Ok, sure," I say as we walk side by side.

I'll admit, I was a little shy around Caroline.

I know I can't compare the two, but with Natalie, I was a lot more...outgoing.

But Caroline, I was a lot more conservative and slow going.

Our hands touched together and slowly or intertwined our fingers together.., I know, cliché, but whatever.

My feelings for Caroline has only bloomed over the past few weeks.

I talked to Sam and Laila, and they were completely supportive of me moving on with Caroline.

In Fact, we have a dinner with them planned for a couple of days to mark the date of me going back to work.

"Your looking for something cheap for the dinner with Sam and Laila aren't you?" I ask Caroline

"Yea, I was hoping I could whip up a fancy meal without breaking your bank account," she says as I laugh

"One expensive dinner isn't gonna put a dent in it," I say as she rolls her eyes

"It won't always be like that if you spend your money carelessly," she scolds me

"I know, I know," I mutter laughing

"Just making sure you do," she says looking at me from the corner of her eye.

We arrived at the rather large store and started shopping.

"Idea?" She asks me

"Soup?" I say as she thinks.

"Side dish maybe...errrr...no, that won't do," she says

"Pizza?" I ask as she stares at me

"Ok, maybe not," I say reading her expression

"Yea...no," she says.

"Ohhhh,,,, spaghetti," I say as she giggles

"We have that almost every week," she says

"That's an issue? You make divine pasta," I compliment her as she blushes

"Steak I guess. Maybe even lobster," I say as she thinks

"I've never cooked with lobster, so steak is probably the better option," she says as I nod and track down the meat aisle. I found a decent cut of steak and Caroline's eyes almost popped out at the price.

"That's expensive!" She says as I nod

"Good steak isn't cheap," I mutter as she nods...she knows better than trying to get me to put back an expensive item.

We picked up things for salad and for fried potatoes.

"There, that will be a decent meal," she says

"Yea, can't wait for 3 days," I mutter as we buy everything...or I did at least.

Due to my injuries, Caroline insisted she carried half the bags.

I tried to keep them to myself but the woman overpowered my grasp and snagged some of them out of my hand

"You won't heal if you push yourself all the time," she says as I shrug.

We got to the house and put the food away in freezers and in the cupboards.

After we were finished we lounged on the couch.

We started watching a movie...it was Caroline's choice so it was romantic of course.

We slowly got closer and closer throughout the movie at the end we were cuddling each other.

Her soft hair brushed against my shoulder as she leaned on me.

Our hands were playing with each other as our bodies touched each other.

She was warm and soft.

Due to my renowned passion for her in the past few weeks. I noticed a lot of things about her.

She was actually quite lean when she first came here a couple of months ago. But since coming here she had retained a much healthier weight than what she had before...so has Nancy for that matter.

Her skin touching mine sent electricity through my heart as it pounded rapidly.

I haven't had this happened in years...literally.

"It's so sad!" Caroline balls her eyes out as one of the main characters goes their own way leaving the pester behind.

"Watch the credits. I'm sure they get back together," I say as she quiets down a little as a bunch of names scroll down.

Finally, we hit a short video at the end of the credits...sure enough I was right

"Jee, you must be a mind reader," she asks me

"So, just I've watched a lot of romance movies in my time," I tell her. Natalie would force me to watch them with her.

"Yea, but if you need a recommendation...don't ask me, I was half asleep through most of them," I say as she giggles

"I will admit, I did feel snoozy," she says as I smile

"I wouldn't mind a nap," I say looking at the time. We don't pick up Nancy for another 4 hours.

"Naptime," I say as I set an alarm and Caroline uses my lap as a pillow.

My face heated up when she initially did it, but I settled down as she fell asleep.

I smiled as I played with her hair a little.

Slowly, my own eyes shut and I took my nap.
