(Y/N) POV

I arrived home to a nice plate of Steak and some sides.

"Thanks for dinner," I say as I clean up

"It's the least I can do," Caroline says as she cleans up Nancy. She had her food all over her mouth and I couldn't help but laugh a little.

"The chief gave me an update on your court date, January 27th," I say as she frowns

"Wow...time sure flies," she says as I nod

"Yea," I agree with her

"Also, a Lawyer is dropping by tomorrow," I say as she panics

"A lawyer...that hasn't come across my mind," she says flustered

"Don't worry, one has been provided for you," I say as she nods and breaths a sigh of relief

"I assure you...you'll be fine," I say as she smiles a bit

"Thanks," she mutters as I look around the house

"I suppose we should probably tidy some things," I say as she laughs

"Don't want the lawyer coughing on dust," She jokes as I roll my eyes a bit

"I've dusted the place a dozen times...and still dusty," I say as she laughs

"Same here...it just comes back," she mutters as we get to it.

We were finished before 10 at night.

"Good night," I tell her as she nods

"Night, have a good sleep," she says as she disappears into the room.

I head to my own as I lay in bed and go to sleep

I awoke in the morning from hard knocks at the door

I look at the time and it's only 7 in the morning

"So soon?" I ask myself as I scramble to get into presentable clothing

I rush to answer the door

I flew the door open and was met with young women. She was maybe in her 30s, not much younger than I was. She had a suit on and her pale green eyes searched me. She tucked her blonde hair behind her ear before introducing herself

"I'm Sarah, I'm here to meet a Caroline?" She asks as I nod

"Yes, come on in, Caroline is here," I say as she enters a little nervously

"I'm the Detective, there's no need to worry about someone jumping out to stab you," I joke as her shoulders relax a bit

"I see, you must be (Y/N)?" She asks as I nod

"Yep, the kitchen is that way," I say pointing as she starts waking to it

Out of nowhere, something runs into Sarah as she yelps and falls to the ground before she starts scrambling around to get back on her feet. Once she did, she could see the person who bumped into her

"Nancy, no running in the house," I say to the little girl as Sarah gets flustered by her show of struggle. It was quite funny.

"I'm sorry," Nancy says to Sarah

"It's fine, just scared me that's all," Sarah says as the little girl smiles

"Nancy," Caroline says coming out of the room. She stops in her tracks once she sees Sarah

"Oh dear, I'm sorry," she apologies as Sarah gets even more flustered

"I'm...miss," Sarah says as I notice myself. Caroline must have been changing before she heard the commotion because the only thing she had on was Pyjama pants and a bra

"Might want to put on a top," I say as I look away. I hear her rush to the room and shut the door

"Sorry about that, I didn't expect you to come so early," I say as Sarah nods

"I'm sorry, I thought you two knew," she says as I smirk

"Certainly did not," I say as she nods

"I need every last second I can get. We only have a few weeks," she says as I nod

"I guess," I mutter as I lead her to the kitchen

"Caroline should be here soon," I say as Sarah looks nervous

"I assure you, Caroline isn't a cold-blooded killer. She's a good person that was in a bad situation," I say as Sarah gets her game face on

"Tell me more," she says as she searches for a pen and paper in her bag. I start explaining the event from what I gathered in my investigation. Sarah nodded as she wrote stuff in

Eventually, Caroline came in with a blush

"Sorry about that," she says Sarah smiles

"It certainly broke the ice," she says as I laugh

"I believe you have everything from me correct?" I ask as Sarah things

"Not quite, but this will do for now," she says as I nod and leave.

"(Y/N)!" Nancy asks as she grabs my hand

"Look," she mutters, pointing out the window

I look out it and there's a strange car parked across the road. I see another car on our side, but that's Sarah's I think.

I see a man step out of the car and walk across the street to my front door.

He knocks as I get up to answer

"Hello," I say as I open the door.

Instead of a normal greeting. I'm met with a fist in the face.

I had no time to react as I topple over. On my way down, I smacked my head against a small table and my vision darkened.

I didn't pass out, but everything went very foggy.

It took me some time before I heard loud yelling.

I came back to my senses as a killer headache takes over me.

I struggle to get to my feet, but once I do. I make my way to the kitchen.

I see Sarah and the man arguing as Caroline holds Nancy in her arms while covering Nancy's ears.

The sounds sounded muffled in my ears. But I could tell they were being really loud

"What the hell was that for," I say as the man looks at me

"You cheating bastard!" He yells at me as I'm confused

"Huh?" I ask not hearing correctly

"I said, you cheating bastard!" He yells as Sarah grabs his attention

"I told you, I'm working!" She says as he laughs

"I'm not an idiot," he responds

"Just listen to me," she says as he gestures something I can't see

"Just get out of my house," I say as he turns around again

"You should be ashamed of yourself...sleeping around, think of your wife for Christ's sake," he says as I give him the death stare.

It happened so quick that I didn't realize I did it. I threw a quick jab at the man and knocked him cold out.

"My wife is dead you dipshit," I say as my vision fades as I pass out
