(Y/N) POV

My whole body hurt. Every last inch was pulsing in pain as I lay in the hospital bed.

I Felt someone holding my head as I see Nancy is sleeping by my bedside. Caroline looked like she was dosing off too.

I smile a bit as I watch the pair.

"Are you awake?" Caroline whispers as I open my eyes fully

"Yea," I mutter weakly.

"So that was your mother huh?" She says as I feel the need to laugh, but my chest hurts so much it ruins the moment.

"Yea," I mutter as she looks at me with a face I've never seen her make before

"What happened? You two don't seem to get along," she asks

"Your right about that," I say as she looks at me curiously

"I'll tell the story later," I say as she smiles and nods

"Ok, just get some rest," she says as I nod.

At first, I thought my mom coming into the room was a dream. But I musta fell asleep again after she was taken out.

I close my eyes and my exhaustion takes over once again.

Caroline POV

(Y/N) started to sleep again. He must be exhausted.

I hear a knock at the door as I turn around to see the doctor

"Was he up again?" He asks as I nod

"That's good, from his actions, it doesn't look like he has any brain damage, but we will have to see how well he can move his body before we completely confirm that," he says as I nod

"That's good," I say as he smiles and leaves.

I follow Nancy's lead and I fall asleep on the side of his bed.

The next few days were interesting. Today (Y/N) gets released and we get to go home. The doctors gave him a bunch of medical advice, pills and whatnot. He's been ordered to just take it easy until his ribs are fully recovered, most of the bruises on his legs went away, and the bandage around his head had been taken off.

There was a decent-sized bruise on his forehead, it had healed a little bit but still wasn't everywhere near finished.

"(Y/N)! Your alive!" The police chief says as we walk to his car

"Thanks for picking us up," (Y/N) says as the chief shrugs

"You got hurt doing your job, it's the least I can do," he says as he looks at me and Nancy

"Nice to see you two lovely ladies are doing fine," he says with a smile that I return. Initially, I was unsure about calling the chief to pick us up, but (Y/N) convinced me to do it.

I helped (Y/N) get into the car as Nancy climbed in, I was the last in the car as it started driving.

"So, what are your plans for when you get home?" He asks (Y/N)

"Have a home-cooked meal, that hospital stuff isn't the best," he says blushing a little

"Ohhh, I see. I hear you make some pretty good food," the chief says talking to me

"It's average," I mutter back to him

"It's the best!" Nancy speaks up as the chief laughs

"Who should I believe?" He asks himself as I feel something press against my shoulder.

I looked to see (Y/N) had his head rested on my shoulder as he slept.

"He's still out of it eh," the chief asks as I nod

"He's been exhausted since the wreck," I say as he nods

"It was pretty brutal, the crash scene. I'm surprised he didn't break his spine. We are probably lucky he rolled a few dozen times instead of coming to an instant stop," he says

"His car was completely destroyed, I'm surprised the roof or door didn't crush him," he says as he sends shivers down my spin

He noticed I was uncomfortable and dropped the subject

"He might not show it, but I'm sure he is glad he had you two by his side in there. He has never liked that hospital," the chief says as I look at him curious

"Is there a reason why he doesn't like it?" I ask the chief as his face looks grim

"That's where his wife died," the chief says as I nod

"Oh, I didn't know," I say

"Yea, she may have been hit by a truck, but she didn't die on impact. She died in the operating room," he continues as Nancy holds my hand. I look at her to see she looks scared.

"It's all right," I say as I put my arm around her.

We continued to the house as the chief stopped

"We have reached our destination," he announces

"Thank you so much for giving us a ride," I say as he smiles and brushes it off

"It's fine, as I said before, it's the least I could do," he says as I wake up (Y/N). He looked around for a moment looking a little lost before realizing where we are

"Home at last," he says as I smile

"Yep, lunchtime," I say as I help him out of the car. I luckily grabbed the house key when I left a couple of days ago. I unlocked the door and (Y/N) pretty much went straight to the couch and started to sleep again.

I started making lunch. When it was finished I woke (Y/N) up and we ate together.

"You asked me why I don't like my mom the other day right?" He asks

"Yea, I did," I say as he looks at me

"Well, it goes back....way back," he says as he searches his memories

(Y/N) POV - Age 17

"Make sure you hurry home ok, we have important guests coming ok," mom says as I mock her.

"I know, I know, I'll be home after school," I say as she smiles

"Goodbye," she says as I wave her off.

At that time, I didn't know what the future held for me. Me of the past has a long road ahead...and it wasn't easy to get where I am now
