(Y/N) POV
20 years later
"Today's the big day!" Caroline says as she latches onto my arm
"That it is," I say as I swing my arm around her as she cuddles into my embrace.
"I'm glad everything turned out ok...for a while I wasn't sure how Nancy was gonna turn out," she mutters as I laugh.
"Did you remember her rebellious stage?" I ask her as she looks at me with those beautiful eyes.
"She still loved you in her teen years...pretty sure she wished me to death a couple of times," she mumbles as I burst out laughing
"Who doesn't like me," I say rubbing salt into her wound.
"Hey! I'm convinced your mother does," she says as I nod
"Yeah, after the stunt she pulled at our marriage ceremony, definitely," I mutter as I remember.
On the day that Caroline and I got married. My mother decided it would be a grand time to show back up in my life and declare that I was already married...because she went behind my back and set up an arranged marriage...what a sick woman.
I've absolutely cut all connections off from her. Got legal papers that declare she can't be anywhere close to me or my family.
"Yeah, she's a crazy one that's for sure," Caroline says as I nod
"She ain't sane that's for sure," I say as she chuckles.
"Well, I'll head down to the lobby, you better wait for the bride," she says jabbing my side
"Copy that," I say taking a seat.
"Cya Honey," she says as we share a quick but nice kiss.
I wait for 5 minutes before a beautiful woman walks into the room. Her dark brown hair was braided down her back... And her eyes. Her eyes looked joyful.
"You look better with your hair is straightened," I point out as she blushes
"Dad!" She pouts as I laugh
"Nancy, I'm joking, you look great," I say as she smiles
"Thanks,"
"Mr. Mathews is a lucky guy," I say as she looks at me sternly.
"I told you to just call him Sam!" She says as I pop a smirk.
"Can't wait to start calling you Mrs. Mathews," I say as her cheeks heat up.
"So when does it start?" I ask her as she looks at a clock
"In 10 minutes," she says
"Ooohh, 10 minutes to tease you," I mutter as she looks at me
"Please don't," she mumbles as I chuckle
"Yeah, yeah, I won't," I say looking at you.
"I'm glad I played a part in raising you," I say as she smiles
"Thanks...I'm glad you were there for me and Mom," she says as I smile.
"I think you two were better for me, than I was for you two," I say as she shakes her head.
"I...I really don't know where Mom and I would be if not for you," she says as I shrug
"I think one of you woulda killed each other," I say as she laughs
"It's was only a couple of years while I was a teen," she protests.
"You two literally argued for a week because you went out to a party secretly," I say as she huffs
"It was a big party, I had to go," she defends
"Your mother disagreed," I laugh as she nods
"No one knows that better than I did. I'd be dead if not for you," she jokes
We chatted some more and then someone came into the room.
"Everyone's waiting for you," they say as we both stand up.
"I'm a little nervous," she mutters
"Eh, can't be worse than your valedictorian speech," I say as she looks at me
"This is way worse!" She mutters as I look at her
"There's like 10 fewer people here...ok never mind," I mutter as we reach the door just before the hall.
"Take it easy. Don't need you tripping and breaking your nose. It would cost a fortune to get the blood out of that dress," I say as she looks
"You're only worried about the dress!" She says as I smile.
"Off we go," I say pushing the door open.
Traditional wedding music plays.
And here we go.
I walk Nancy down the aisle.
I'm doing pretty much a father's best dream. Walking their daughter down to another man, so they can get out of your hair!
"You said that in a whisper," Nancy whispers as I look at her.
"It's true," I say with a toothy grin.
"God, your such a Dad," she complains.
I spot Caroline as tears threaten to leave her eyes. I give her a little wink and she laughs
"Your such a flatterer," Nancy says digging her elbow her my side.
"How else was I supposed to make your amazing mother fall for me," I point out.
"Fair, you have no other redeeming qualities," she mutters
"You're picking up my humour," I point out.
"Oh god I am," she whispers as we reach Sam Mathews...her groom.
Sam was a geeky kid in high school. But after gaining a lot of confidence when he went to university, he turned into a fine young man.
I was pretty loose when it came to Nancy dating guys. The only rules were she couldn't date meth heads, or get involved in any illegal situations...
Plus, I liked Sam. He's a smart kid, and his passion for Nancy is definitely strong
She stands next to him as he looks at me
"I pass her on to you now. Take good care, she's a firecracker," I say audibly as the crowd laughs.
"Dad, go sit with mom!" She says blushing like crazy.
I head to Caroline as she looks at me amused
"You sure are having fun," she mutters
"This is my last chance to really tease her a lot...after this, I'll have to start teasing Sammy too," I say as she rolls her eyes
The ceremony nears an end.
Looking at Nancy, seeing her happy. Makes me feel like my life is complete.
I've experienced a lot of heartache...but my tale ends with a happy note
I wrap my arms around Caroline as it ends.
Nancy and Sam kiss.
"Thank you, for everything," Caroline says
"Thank you too, for making me move on,"
Knotavin: Hope you all enjoyed this book. Was definitely an experience making this long of an original book. Sorry if it ended a little abruptly and if the ending seemed a little rushed. May come back later and add a couple parts. But honestly, that may be years down the road when I complete the rest of my books. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the end of Carolines and Nancys adventure
