❝ Everything I see reminds
me of him, [ 02 ] and I hate it... ❞──────────────
3RD PERSON POV
She stared as the petals of the Cherry Blossom tree fell each time the wind would blow. She saw two figures standing under a tree, hugging each other. She watched as the boy kissed the girl on the forehead with a loving smile on his face. She watched as their figures vanished like an illusion.
She gulped, pushing back the tears that tried to form in her eyes. She averted her eyes, hating the sight of the one thing she loved most. She fastened her pace to the bus stop and immediately brushed away the petals that landed on her clothing.
"Stupid Cherry Blossoms," She muttered, ruffling her hair.
"What do you have against Cherry Blossoms?" A boy in front of her asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Everything! It may be beautiful, but it makes the streets messy, and it gets stuck in my hair!" She said with a frown plastered on her face.
"We all know you still love them," He said, chuckling.
"What do you mean?" She said, lifting her head. She raised her eyebrow, and an amused smile appeared on her face. "Lee Donghyuck?"
"I was wondering when you'll notice," He said, pulling her into a side hug.
"Hey, you're back! How was Jeju?" She asked, smiling.
"It was... great," He said with a small smile.
She lifted her eyebrow at him. "Why did you say it in that tone?"
"What do you mean?" He asked, crossing his arm.
"You make it sound like you had a bad time," She said, analyzing his expressions.
"I had a great time!"
"Hmm... I doubt it," She said, squinting at him. "Spill."
"I left too suddenly. I left something there, unfixed," Donghyuck said, sighing.
"Like?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. He shook his head, signaling he didn't want to talk about it. She nodded in understanding. She placed her hand on his face and tugged the corners of his lips upward.
She chuckled and said, "There it is! The smile that all the girls fall for."
"Whatever," He said, laughing slightly. Donghyuck pushed her hands from his face and smirked.
"Are you saying you fell for me too?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"In your dreams," She said, rolling her eyes jokingly at him.
"C'mon Heejin, just admit it," He teased, pushing her shoulder with his in a playful manner. She clicked her tongue and shoved his head away from hers.
"You haven't changed," She said, shaking her head disappointingly.
"You have..." He said, trailing off. "Are you seriously still letting it affect you?"
"Of course not!" She said, crossing her arms. He hummed, not believing her.
"You love Cherry Blossoms, and now you're seriously saying that you hate them?" He said, crossing his arms.
She averted her eyes to the ground and cleared her throat. "The bus is here! We should get going."
He sighed and understood that she did not want to discuss it. She took a seat by the window and watched people on the sidewalk. Her eyes caught a boy with bright blue hair running after the bus. They made eye contact, and he started to wave at her.
He signaled for her to help him. She turned her head, deciding that it would be better not to get involved. She turned back to the window and noticed that he stopped chasing it. 'I'm sorry... not again. I can't let history repeat itself.'
She spent the whole ride pitying the boy. She shook her head, trying to rid any thoughts of him. She walked out of the bus with Donghyuck and sighed. She turned to him and waved as they went their separate ways. She walked towards her locker. She opened it and stared at the photo that laid inside. She crumbled it and placed it in her pocket.
"Lee," A voice called out to her. She turned her head and smiled at the boy.
"Huang," She said, letting out a small laugh.
"How's my favorite Lee?" He asked, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
"Doing better..."
"Forget about him. You're better off without him," Renjun said, squeezing her shoulder reassuringly.
"It's hard, Injun..." She said in a soft tone. "Everything I see reminds me of him, and I hate it..."
"Let's go to get coffee later! My treat," He said, changing the subject. "I'll see you later, okay?"
She nodded and thanked him internally, relieved that he let the subject go. He gave her a reassuring smile before waving at her as he walked off. She sighed and walked through the empty hallway alone. She stared at the ground, drifting away. She stumbled back and held her head.
"Ow, watch where you're going!" She said, lifting her head. Her eyes widened as she saw the familiar blue hair.
"Says the one lost in her thoughts!" He said, gathering his items that fell.
"I'm sorry," She said, helping him gather his items.
He lifted his head and thanked her as she handed him the rest of his possessions. He squinted his eyes at her, feeling as if he knew her. Heejin gulped, hoping he wouldn't recognize her.
"You look familiar. Do I know you?" He asked, tilting his head. Her eyes widened, and her hands formed a fist.
He raised his eyebrow at her, and his eyes widened. "You're the girl from the bus!"
"Excuse me," She said, running past him.
She slammed the door open to the bathroom and closed it immediately, leaning against it. She let out heavy breaths and clutched at her uniform. She walked towards the faucet and stared at her appearance, trying to calm herself down.
"No, that's isn't him! But- why did he sound exactly like him?" She asked herself.
She took a few deep breaths before splashing her face with cold water. She grabbed the sides of the sink and stared at herself. She watched as the water dripped down her face. She sighed and walked towards the paper towels and wiped her face.
"It was all in your head. He isn't here," She whispered to herself as she fixed her appearance. She calmly walked to class and sighed out of relief after seeing no sign of her teacher.
She sat at the desk near the window and stared at the bird that flew out of a tree. Her teacher soon came in with a student following closely behind him. Her eyes widened, finding herself staring at the eyes of the same blue-haired boy from earlier. His words echoed into her mind making her clench her fist. She hastily averted her eyes to the window with hopes that he wouldn't sit near her.
"Heejin?" Her teacher called out and turned her attention to him. "Please raise your hand."
She did as told, and soon the boy walked in her direction. She gulped as he placed his bag on to the table.
"I'm Na Jaemin," He said, taking a seat next to her. She screamed internally, hoping this was all a dream.
"Heejin, Lee Heejin," She said, forcing a smile.'Of all people, it had to be him?!'
