❝ About last night, I- ❞──────────────
Heejin glanced at Jaemin, who sat beside her, concentrating hard on the board. She giggled softly to herself before frowning again. "Or are you falling because he reminds you of your ex?" Heejin sighed deeply, leaning her cheek against the palm of her hand.
"I- can we just worry about the falling part first?" Heejin sighed stressfully.
"Are you that worried about falling in love again?" Renjun asked with furrowed brows. Heejin stared at the ground, nodding slightly.
"Heejin..." Renjun said, concerned. "You can't keep beating yourself for what happened. You're allowed to love again, don't let the past control you. It's in the past that means it's over. All you can do now is look ahead for the future."
"I know, but I'm just not ready..." Heejin whispered, glancing at him. "You're always there for me. Thank you."
She pulled him into a hug and smiled into his shoulder. He nodded, pulling away. "Of course, Jin, that's my job as your best friend."
"Renjun," She leaned her back against the cemented railing. Renjun hummed in response. "If I am falling for him because he reminds me of Hyunjin... then I need to distance myself, right?"
"I don't want him to get the wrong impression. I don't want to fall for him because of who reminds me of him. I can't do that to Jaemin. I'd be making the same mistake as he did." Renjun nodded, pushing himself off the railing, and stood in front of her.
He took her hands in his and smiled. "Jin, do what makes you comfortable. If you need to distance yourself, then I'll be here to support you. If he takes it the wrong way, then explain it. Say you needed a bit of alone time. I'm sure he'll understand. Jaemin is understanding."
Heejin nodded, agreeing with him. He bid her farewell, leaving Heejin alone with her thoughts. She sighed, turning back around to watch students walk into the school. Her eyes caught sight of a platinum blond hair color, making her turn away. Her thoughts drifted to the events of the night before. She thought of how his lips were an inch away from touching hers.
"No!" Heejin shot up from her seat, shouting in protest. All heads in the room, turning towards her, staring at her in judgment.
"Ms. Lee, is there a problem?" Her teacher, Mr. Choi, asked, pulling his glasses down as he raised an eyebrow. Heejin's eyes widened in realization.
"N-no, Mr. Choi!" Heejin replied, sitting back down.
"See me after class." Heejin nodded, placing her head on the desk, feeling embarrassed. Her cheeks became hot and pink as she felt eyes on her. 'Turn back and listen, please!'
