❝ What are you doing here? ❞
──────────────
It's been a few days since the incident. Heejin expected Jaemin to bring it up, but he never did. She was grateful that he didn't, but she still felt embarrassed. Everything she would see him, the incident would flashback into her mind, making her awkward. Heejin tried to avoid him as best as she could as she tried to forget all about it.
Heejin nervously played with her fingers as she sat at the bus stop. She tapped her foot in a quick motion as she kept a lookout for a familiar blue hair fellow. After the incident, she wanted nothing to do with him. She couldn't believe she let herself do those things. It felt unbelievable to her. The images that played in her mind didn't help her. She couldn't understand the reason why they stared. 'Could it possibly be because he reminds me so much of him?'
'Impossible... it's like the past is repeating itself.' She lifted her hand to her necklace and played with it subconsciously. She took a deep breath, getting up as the bus pulled up in front of her. She got in and sat next to a window. She pulled her phone out and put on a pair of headphones. She stared at the buildings with a distant expression on her face until she got to her destination. She got out and started her way to the school building.
She walked in the halls, unknowingly making her way towards a familiar room. She shifted her gaze to the door beside her, then to the sign above it. She opened the door slowly, peeking in. She scanned the room with a longing expression planted on her face. Her lips lifted upwards into a smile. She walked around, running her hands through the walls and picking up anything on the desk.
She paused, staring at a photo on the wall. She lifted her hand and traced it with her fingers, eye landing on a specific figure. She averted her eyes, scanning the room before her. Her eyes wandered around the room, taking it in. The room was different. It wasn't lively as it used to be. She stared at a banner, which only showed the name Hellavator. She bit her lip and turned away. She rushed out the door, feeling suffocated.
Heejin closed the door behind her and leaned against it. She closed her eyes and breathed out deeply. She couldn't breathe, and being in that room made her chest ache. She didn't expect one of the members to come in, especially one that she loved dearly. She pulled herself from the door and started her way to another room.
She opened the door slowly before halting as the sound of music filled her ears. She peeked in and saw a familiar blue-haired boy in the middle of the room. His sneakers squeaked against the floor as he started to move with the music. She stared at him in amazement, watching him move gracefully with the music. His moves were sharp and hit every beat of the music.
Jaemin viewed himself in the mirror as he made sure every movement was accurate. He collapsed onto the floor, breathing heavily with sweat dripping down his face. Heejin walked towards him, picking up a towel on the side of the room as she did. She crouched down and wiped his sweat. Jaemin stared at her, stunned at her action.
"Heejin?" She glanced at him and smiled. "What are you doing here?"
"I was just passing by," She said, standing up as she finished wiping his sweat. "What are you doing here?"
"What do you mean? I'm dancing," Jaemin said, sitting up. He ran his hands through his hand, pushing back the hair that covered his forehead.
"I meant, why are you here so early dancing," She said, sitting down next to him. Jaemin shrugged, unsure himself. "You're sweating, and class hasn't even started!"
She lifted the cloth, wiping his forehead again as she scolded him. He stared at her as she concentrated on wiping away his sweat. His heartbeat started to speed up as a loving smile appeared on his face.
"You know I could do that myself, right?" Heejin freeze as her face became covered with a light blush. Jaemin chuckled at her reaction. She pulled her hand away, but Jaemin stopped her. "I never said to stop."
Heejin stared into his eyes, feeling her heart skip a beat. He looked breathtakingly beautiful to her. She gulped before averting her eyes and slowly wiped his face. Jaemin stared at her as she did, making her nervous.
"What? Is there something on my face?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at him. Jaemin laughed slightly before shaking his head.
"Yes, beauty," He said, grinning widely. Heejin hit Jaemin's arm playfully and rolled her eyes.
"You're so dumb," She said, smiling widely.
"You know you love it, Jin." He said, smirking at her. She rolled her eyes again, pretending to be annoyed. She threw the cloth at him before standing up.
"You're a big boy. You can wipe your own sweat," She said, crossing her arms. Jaemin laughed, standing up and wiped his sweat.
"I'm just kidding!" He said, pinching her cheek. She scrunched her nose, hating the feeling of it. Jaemin stared down at her as a smile appeared on his face, finding her expression adorable.
She removed his hand away from her face, trying to ignore the pounding of her heart. She whined, slightly pouting as she massaged her cheek. Jaemin chuckled before walking towards his backpack. He fished for his water bottle before taking a sip.
"Seriously, Nana. It's so early in the morning, and you're already dancing," Heejin said, shaking her head. Jaemin choked on the water, going into a coughing fit. Heejin immediately walked towards him and patted his back softly. Jaemin drank more water, and finally, it stopped.
"Nana?" Jaemin wiped his mouth, trying to catch his breath.
"Yeah, that's you're new nickname, right?" She asked, confused. "Hyuck told me that it was. Did I get it wrong?"
Jaemin shook his head. "No! It's just I haven't heard that in a while..."
"Nari... she made it," He said, pressing his lips together into a firm line. Heejin's mouth parted, feeling guilty as she reminded him of his first love.
"Should I not call you that then?"
"No, it's okay! I like hearing it from you," He said, smiling at the ground. He lifted his gaze, staring at her through his eyelashes. Heejin raised her eyebrows and laughed slightly. A ring rang through the room, indicating that their class was about to start.
"Are you sure?" She asked, feeling unsure as they walked to class.
"Yes, Heejin! It's fine," He said, reassuring her. "Don't overthink it. I've moved on! It doesn't affect me much, plus I can't do anything. She already has someone else in her heart..."
