❝ Why is it so hard to forget you? ❞

"Thank you for walking me home, Nana," Heejin said, smiling at him.
"I mean, how could I not? We live in the same apartment and floor. My apartment room is five doors down." Jaemin chuckled. Heejin turned away from him, flushing in embarrassment.
"You know what I mean," Heejin said, waving him off as she tried to hide her flushed face. Jaemin let out a small laugh before nodding.
"Bye, Jinjin," Jaemin said, walking away from her. Heejin froze at the nickname.
"Jinjin?" Heejin called out, making him turn towards her.
He nodded, smiling. "Yeah, it's your new nickname. If I'm Nana, then you're Jinjin."
A smile grew on Heejin's face, feeling her heart skip a beat. "It's cute. I like it."
"I never asked if you liked it," Jaemin said, laughing as he walked backward."You're stuck with it whether you like it or not."
Heejin roller her eyes, letting out a breathy laugh before waving at his retreating figure at the end of the hall. She turned, unlocking the door to her apartment and placed her backpack on a hook and let out a tired sigh. She stretched a bit, feeling her body relax.
"Heejin? Are you home?" A voice called out. Heejin hummed, walking to the source. Minho stood at the counter of the kitchen with his back faced to her.
"Hey, what're you doing?" She asked, peeking from behind him.
"Washing strawberries, you want some?" Minho asked, glancing at her. She walked around the counter and sat on the stool.
"Shouldn't you be with the boys?" She asked, leaning forward and opened her mouth.
Minho rolled his eyes at her as he cleaned up. "Feed yourself."
Heejin pouted before reaching out to grab a piece. Minho slapped her hand and pulled the bowl away from her grasp.
"Wash your hands first and go change."
Heejin groaned, frowning. "Can't you just feed me one before I go?"
"No, you only get some when you're clean."
"Mm, says the dude who used Febreze as perfume," She grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest.
"At least I smelled nice," Minho said, scowling at her. Heejin sighed, glaring at Minho before leaving the room. She walked towards a door that read "Jin's room" and opened it slowly.
She walked towards her drawer, her eyes falling upon a picture frame. It was the same photo that was in her locker. The photo with the very guy she tried hard to forget. Her eyes glistened with tears, stroking the picture before shoving it downward. She blinked back, pushing it away.
"You can't cry for him! It's been a long time. He's surely forgotten about you, so why can't you forget about him?" She patted her cheeks softly, trying to ignore the stinging feeling in her chest.
"Y-you can't cry..." She whispered, her voice breaking as she did. She groaned, pulling her cheeks down, attempting to stop the tears from rolling down. "You're stronger than this. How could you let a guy do this to you?"
Heejin hit her chest softly, frustrated at the pain she felt. She wanted it to stop; the crying, the hurting, and the memories. She wished to get rid of his existence as if he never entered her life. 'Why is it so hard to forget you?'
She gritted her teeth, harshly wiping the hot tears that fell from her cheeks. She took a few deep breaths, attempting to calm herself down.
A knock came from her door, and Minho's voice filled her ears. "Heejin, I'm going out. The strawberries are on the counter for you."
Heejin sniffed softly and cleared her throat. "Okay, be safe!"
Minho stood at the door, feeling worried as he noticed the slight difference in her voice. He sighed as her small sniffs filled his ears. He opened the door slowly, peeking in. Heejin quickly wiped her tears and held her breath, trying not to sniff.
"Jin, are you okay?" He asked in a soft voice. Heejin choked back as the warmth and worry in his voice filled her ears. She shook her head, collapsing to the ground. Her shoulders shook as her cries soon filled the room. Minho rushes towards her, pulling her into his chest. He placed his chin on her head and rubbed her back comfortingly.
"It hurts, Minho. It hurts so much! My heart feels like someone is squeezing it, and it feels like I can't breathe. Why did it end up like this?" She asked, choking a bit as she hit her chest softly.
"Why did I have to meet him in the first place? Why did I have to fall in love with him? Why did he have to break me like this?" She asked, her voice breaking as she did. Her mouth quivered as she held back a sob.
"Minho, am I weak?"
"No! Why would you ever think that?" Minho asked, stroking the back of her head.
"Because I'm always crying! It's been half a year, and I'm still like this. Look at other people! They usually heal after a few months. Ugh, god, I wish I never met him and never fell in love with him." She clutched at his shirt, burying herself deeper into his chest.
"You are not weak. Crying is just another way you express how you feeling when words aren't enough. It takes time to heal, and people heal differently, so don't compare your pain with theirs, okay?" Minho wiped her tears again and pushed back the hair that fell over her face.
"You're doing so great, Heejin. You're at least trying to live your life, so don't say you're weak, okay?" Heejin shook her head, disagreeing with him.
"But I am!"
"No, you are not," Minho said firmly. "Crying is just a natural reaction to getting your heartbroken."
"I'm sorry," Heejin whispered, staring at her hands.
"What for?"
"For making you guys suffer because of my sadness. For always bring the mood down and have everyone look after my well-being. I'm sorry for burdening you. You should be hanging out with your members instead of looking after me," Heejin ranted as tears ran down her face uncontrollably.
"Shhh... you're not a burden. I'm here with you because you're family!" Minho paused for a bit at the word 'family me before continuing on. "We're always looking after you because we care, Heejin. We choose to be with you because we want you to feel better and heal," Minho said, squeezing his hold on her. He took a deep breath.
"Don't ever think you're bothering us because we are always here for you. Don't keep things bottled up because it's not good for you. Please talk to us if you need to, okay?" Heejin nodded while Minho placed a kiss on her forehead. He wiped away the tears that fell from his own and rubbed her back comfortingly. They sat there, hugging each other, with Heejin cried into Minho's chest.
