❝ I am here for you, solely for you ❞──────────────
Jaemin stopped in front of Heejin's door with his heart pounding against his ribcage, hovering his hand over the door. In the quick motion that startled the boy, the door swung open with a small thud. At the frame of the door, an older boy with a raised eyebrow stared at him, judging Jaemin from head to toe. Intimidated by his stare, Jaemin gulped in nervousness as his lips tugged into an uncomfortable smile.
"Do you need something?" Minho asked, deflecting his attention to his backpack as he adjusted the strap and eventually swung it over his shoulder. Jaemin waited in silence as Minho turned his attention back to him. Sensing the quiet atmosphere, Minho raised his head as his brows began to furrow in annoyance. "Hello? I got somewhere to be."
"Oh! Right- um- is Heejin here?" Jaemin asked, shifting his weight from one foot to another. The faint stutter didn't go unnoticed by Minho, who inwardly snickered at the anxious boy in front of him. He questioned how could someone taller than him feel intimidated.
An amused smile emerged on his lips as he decided to mess with him. He sighed and rolled his head backward to refrain from laughing. Then shifted his attention to Jaemin and clicked his tongue as a displeased expression fell across his face. "What business do you have with her?"
"Well, we usually walk to school together," Jaemin replied, slightly scratching his cheek with his pointer finger, wanting nothing more than to walk away from the conversation.
"First, what's your name?" Minho asked, slightly raising an eyebrow. "I need to know you first before letting you near her."
"Na Jaemin. I'm her seatmate and friend?"
Minho hummed in response, examining him. "You don't sound sure of yourself."
His eyes trailed from his platinum blond hair. "You an idol or something? Why's your hair dyed?"
"No, I just thought it would be fun," Jaemin explained, shifting in his spot as his fingers played with the strap of his backpack.
"Okay then... Heejin isn't home. She left earlier." The boy replied, shrugging as he watched Jaemin's eyes widen. Minho's lips curled into a smile of amusement as Jaemin's stiff shoulders visibly relax.
"Oh, okay. Thank you. Sorry for the disturbance." With a tiny bow, Jaemin turned around. He sighed out of relief, not realizing how anxious he was to face Heejin. The boy's stare seemed to burn into the back of his head as he walked away. He fought the urge to glance back at him and rushed off to the elevator.
A small sigh escaped his lips as he stared at the cloudy grey skies. "She doesn't just kiss anyone on the cheek unless they're special to her." Jeno's voice rang in his head, making Jaemin sigh out of frustration.
"What are you doing to me, Lee Heejin?" He whispered to the sky. Jaemin ruffled his hair and exhaled sharply.
"Nana!" A squeal came by the entrance of the school, snapping Jaemin out of his thoughts. In a blur, he felt the weight of someone leaping into his arms.
He glanced down, recognizing the figure that clung to him. "Nari?" His eyes widened, watching her clung to him. Jaemin swiftly encircled his arms around her waist, tugging her closer to him. He settled her down gently, taking a better look at her face.
"I missed your presence!" She beamed, staring at him.
Jaemin's snickered, noting that her unusual way of talking has not changed since he departed. "I missed you too. What are you doing here?"
Nari pursed her like, glancing at the ground. "Um- surprise?" Her lips pulled into a forced smile as she slightly wriggled her fingers and waved her hands.
Jaemin raised an eyebrow, chuckling at her. He lifted his hand to her hair and ruffled it, making her whine. "No, seriously, why are you here?"
"What did he do this time?" Jaemin asked, leaning back as he crossed his arms.
Nari raked her hand through her hair and sighed. "Nothing."
"Doesn't seem like nothing," Jaemin said, paying close attention to her actions. He leaned forward, expecting an explanation.
"I did not arrive for him. I am at this point for you, solely for you." Nari said, trying to change the subject. A tight smile appeared on her lips, making Jaemin frown.
"All of a sudden?" He asked with furrowed eyebrows. He sighed, shaking his head at his oblivious friends. "You know.... you don't have to hide it from me, Nari. He told me."
Nari stared into his worried eyes before averting her gaze. Jaemin pulled her into a hug, rubbing her back comfortingly. "All right, you caught me. I wanted to make amends with him in person..."
"How long are you here?" Jaemin asked, glancing at the main building of the school, watching as students walked in. "He doesn't come to school until later."
"Oh!" Nari exclaimed in realization.
"What? What's wrong?" Jaemin asked quickly after hearing her in distress.
"I stopped you from attending class. I'm sorry, I'll leave immediately," Nari said, glancing at the students. Jaemin brows furrowed, watching as she frantically gathered her items that fell.
"Nari." Jaemin grabbed her hand, stopping her from leaving. Nari glanced at him with her belongings in her hands. "Calm down, it's fine. Class doesn't start until another 30 minutes. I'll stay here, and we can wait for him." Nari exhaled slowly, nodding at him as she quickly stood up with the items in her hands.

"Hey," Jaemin greeted Heejin as he sat down.
"Hi," Heejin spoke quietly with a small smile.
Jaemin's brows furrowed at her behavior. "You came to school early."
"Yeah, I had to get something done," Heejin said, not bothering to glance his way. Heejin placed headphones in her ears, trying to avoid communication.
Jaemin pressed his lips together and nodded. He wondered if he did anything to offend her. But he couldn't think of anything. Jaemin sighed, setting his arms on his desk, deciding to lay on it. Jaemin noticed that Heejin had a hard time opening up to people. He thought he was growing closer to her. But his attempts were futile. With every step he took toward her, she would take a few steps back. He sighed, running his hand through his hair.
Lunchtime came quicker than Jaemin anticipated. Once the lunch bell chimed, Heejin hurried out the door as if her survival depended on it, making Jaemin sigh as he lowered his head. Deciding to clear off his mind, he went to the only place that'll distract him, the dance room.
He swiftly removed his blazer and plugged his phone into the speaker. Jaemin turned on the music and allowed his body to take over. He stared at himself through the mirror with each step. His body turned at every other beat and his arms moved with the melody. The sound of the music and the squeaks from his sneakers filled the quiet room.
