Third POV.

Sid stood at the doorway, panting heavily, sweat clinging to his brow, panic rising in his chest like a tidal wave. The look on his face—pale, stricken, trembling—immediately sent a chill down Anaya's spine.

She stepped toward him, her heart pounding violently against her ribcage.

Something was wrong.

Very wrong.

"Sid..." her voice cracked slightly, "Wh-what happened? Why are you—why are you like this?"

She tried to read his expression, but it was unreadable. His lips trembled, and his eyes darted away for a moment before finally meeting hers.

"Gem..." he whispered, using the name only he called her by. "Promise me you won't freak out."

That one sentence made the floor disappear from beneath her feet.

She didn't even realize she was holding her breath. Her fingers clenched tightly, and a wave of nausea curled in her stomach.

"Sid...you're scaring me. Please," she said, her voice trembling. "Just say it. Say it clearly."

Sid swallowed hard, and then in one breath that nearly broke her—he said it.

"Gem... Bhai had an accident. He's in the hospital."

The words shattered everything inside her.

She didn't scream.

She didn't speak.

She didn't move.

She just stood there, as if someone had pulled the air from the world, as if her soul had left her body.

The next thing she knew—her legs gave out.

She staggered, grabbing the nearest wall for support. Her knees buckled, and she slowly slid down to the floor, gasping, her chest heaving as if the very mention of his name in danger was suffocating her.

Her Arjun.
Her ruthless, impossible, maddening Arjun—was in the hospital.

Her breath was caught somewhere in her throat, her lips parted, but no sound came. Tears rolled down her cheeks as if her heart had finally bled through her eyes.

Sid dropped to his knees beside her, holding her shaking hands tightly.

"Gem, please... please hold yourself together. Krish Bhai called for you. He asked you to come. He needs you there," he pleaded, wiping her tears as gently as he could. "You have to be strong. For him."

The ride to the hospital felt like an eternity.

Anaya sat in the car like a ghost, her eyes glassy, her body cold.

Every second that passed drowned her in memories.

Arjun holding her against his chest in a rare moment of silence...
Arjun screaming in anger, but protecting her like his life depended on it...
Arjun's lips brushing her forehead every morning when he thought she was asleep...

She clutched the edge of her dupatta tightly in her fists as silent prayers left her lips.

"Don't take him away. Not now. Not like this..."
