Okay. It's okay. I will be okay. Finnick will save me. I will get out alive and then I can fall into his arms, which is the only thing I've ever wanted. My lips curl up into a little smile. Home. I'm going home. Suddenly I hear the screaming of many voices, accompanied by... I can't even place the sound. Swiftly I turn around, facing something which will be my death. A gigantic wave of water. It's like a wall, which covers the whole right side of the arena. My heart almost stops beating from only looking at it. My whole body starts to tremble. What do I need to do?
"Run." Felix voice pumps trough my head. So that's what I do. I try to move my legs as quickly as possible. Surviving is the most important thing right now. If I won't survive, I'll never be able to see Finnick again. And right now, he's the only thing keeping me alive. I keep moving faster through the maze, my legs moving like they never did before. The sound of the wave is getting louder, also there are more screams. I bite my lip and stop the running. It'll take me anyways. Images flash through my mind while I stand there, looking at the wave coming at me. I see Finnick and myself at a lake. I know the place, but I can't really think where it would be. He calls me his mermaid. Mermaid, I can swim like a mermaid. I hold my breath while the wave hits me. My eyes widen as the cold water paralyzes my whole body. The fear is taking over my mind and I can't move. Breathe! Breathe! I need air! Slowly I start to move my arms and legs again. I need to go up. Then I start to move faster and faster and suddenly I'm swimming. Like a mermaid. I NEED AIR! Finally I reach the top of the water and I pop my head out of the water. Still moving my feet so I won't go down again, I take deep breaths. A horrible sound bursts through my ears, canons. Many, many canons. Keep breathing, keep breathing. Finnick, I need him. I stare at the top of the arena, the skyline. It reminds me of him, Finnick. His eyes, his chest, him. My eyes close and I keep on moving my legs. Suddenly the water goes down, it disappears. When the water is totally gone, I lay down on the ground, not moving.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the victor of the Seventeeth Annual Hunger Games, Annie Cresta from District four!"
What? What?! I won? What?! I stand up and stare at a hoovercraft which is coming for me. "Finnick! Finnick I'm coming!", I scream crying. I fall down on my knees and continue crying. Slowly people put me on my feet and take me into the hoovercraft. I lose conciousness.
The first thing I see when I open my eyes, are grey blurry lines. The vision gets less blurry and I see a grey ceiling. Slowly I sit up straigth in the bed I'm lying in. My head hurts a bit though. I hear a knock on the door and I clear my throat. "Yea?" The door opens and I look into his eyes. Finnick. The one who saved me. I can't get up, I'm too weak, so I wait. I wait for him to move. The only thing I see happening is a tear rolling down his face. My mouth gets dry.
"Annie..." He whispers while he walk over to me with quick steps. He stands next to me and grabs my head between his hands. "You did it. You came back. I love you, I love you so much!" He starts to cry even more. He makes shocking movements with his shoulders. I raise my hand and gently place it on his. "You saved me." I whisper back while I start crying myself too. "Without you I would be dead."
"You wouldn't, you would have made it yourself too Angel." He wipes some tears off my face with his thumb. "I just wanted to tell you that I love you. And I do. Gosh Annie! I can't even express how much I love you. I'm just going to say it one more time: I love you." He kisses my forehead gently with his shaking lips. I rush my hand softly through his hair. "I did lose my sanity right there." I say as I think back to the Games. Maybe I'm not sane right now, I don't know. "I don't care. You were just upset." Finnick says. I shake my head denying. "I went insane because I lost my sanity. It's only now that I realize..."
"You are my sanity Finnick."
