I know I said I didn't care anymore. That he could just die. But instead of that, I want him to live. I know he doesn't care about me, but that doesn't change the way I feel about him. I love him, no matter what. The Games have began an hour ago and since that time I've been sitting in my room, screaming: 'RUN FINN RUN!' And I until now he's listening. He has been running all the time since the Games started. He's heading towards the mountains for as far as I can see. But most of the time they show the Bloodbath at the Cornucopia. Where lots of tributes get murdered by the careers. I see our very own Lorelei is on a killing spree. Horrible, she has already killed three children. How heartless is she?! Every time someone gets killed I turn my head away and try not to cry for those poor kids. Well, it is Finnick's only chance to survive... They must die... The camera changes and I see Finnick. He's throwing spears and knives at a dummy he has drawn. I'm surprised by how well he can aim. It's almost perfect! After a while he quits and sits down, leaning against the mountain next to him. I smile when he closes his eyes. He looks so cute... Wait! No Annie! Don't think like this! I sigh and the camera changes again. Now the district twelve girl comes onto the screen. Oh. My. God! She's heading straight towards Finnick! 'Finnick! Run! Go! There's someone coming to you!' I scream as loud as I can. She does look really scared and she hasn't got any weapons besides three knives. But three knives can be enough to kill someone. She walks around the corner and sees Finnick. I hold my breath, not knowing what will happen. 'Please Finn...' I whisper while some tears come up. I stare at the screen and I can see Finnick doubts what to do. The girl says: "Er... Hi?" She's not going to kill him, that's obvious. The real question is, will he kill her?
He doesn't. He ask her to be his ally. I can finally breath properly again. Although Finnick actually should have killed her, then he would have a bigger chance on surviving. He looks at the girl like she's the most beautiful creature in the world. Maybe... Maybe he had a crush on her?! Instead of me, he loves that girl! I get it now. She sure looks lovely.
"You were Layla, right?" He asks her with his sweet voice. "Yes, and you are Finnick Odair, the boy from district four. Why are you not with the careers?" She asks him curiously. He smiles a bit. "Because I don't murder for fun. I would only murder to survive. Not because I like to do that. And besides that, who would want a fourteen year old in his alliance?" She gives him a serious look. "I would. In fact, we are in an alliance. And you are such a great fighter, I feel a lot saver now I'm with you." She starts to blush a bit. Finnick stares at her, looking a bit confused. "How old are you Layla?" He asks her. "I'm only fifteen. Of course I got Reaped, I mean in district twelve no one volunteers." She says while she shrugs. "I got Reaped too..." Finnick whispers while he stares at the ground. "Ahhw." Layla says while she grabs his hand. He looks at Layla in disbelieve.
Yes. This is it. This is the moment where they kiss and I'm out of sight forever. I start to cry but I keep on looking at the screen. I can't help it, I need to see what he'll do.
They come closer at each other and I can almost see there lips touch. Then a shock seems to go through Finnick and he pushes her away from him. He stands up and looks at her, Layla, who's lying down on the ground looking more confused then ever. "I'm sorry, I can't. You're not..." He stutters. "Nevermind. Go sleep, I'll take first watch." He says while he walks away from her and prepares himself for watch. Layla slowly curls up and closes her eyes, trying to catch some sleep.
I sigh from relieve. He didn't kiss her! I do feel sorry for that poor Layla, not knowing what's happening to her. I wipe my tears off my face. I should probably catch some sleep too. I lay down on my bed and turn the television off. Finnick will survive this night, right? Yes he will. I believe in him with all my heart.
The next morning I wake up and immediately turn the television on. It seems that I tuned in exactly at the right time, cause two people are heading towards Finnick and Layla. 'Finnick! They're coming! Grab your spear!' I shout while I hopelessly bite my lip. Layla is taking watch and Finnick is sleeping. 'Layla! Watch it!' Layla seems to be pretty tired since she yawns and is not really watching. Suddenly, in front of her the two guys appear. Her mouth opens wide. "FINNICK! HELP! HELP ME!" She screams while she jumps back and hopelessly she throws a knife which completely misses them. The guys smirk and walk with slow steps closer to Layla, who's trapped and can't get away. "FINNICK!" She cries. Finnick awakes and sees the two guys standing in front of Layla. "NO!" He runs at them and spears one. Then he turns to the other guy, but he's too late. Layla let's out a mayor scream and I see tears running down her face while the guy stabs in her heart with a sword. Finnick runs towards the guy and cuts his head off with his knife. My mouth opens widely. It's disgusting. Finnick throws the guy away and quickly kneels down next to Layla. "Layla, say something... Please..." Layla opens her eyes for one second, and closes them again. Three canons fire. She's dead... "No! No!" Finnick starts to cry and rests his head on her chest. "Annie! I'm so sorry I let you die!" He shouts. Then he puts his hands in front of his mouth and looks shocked.
Did he just say... Annie? I stare at the screen, feeling confused. He said my name. He thought... He thought Layla was me? She has the same brown hair and green eyes. I... I...
He said Annie.
