The class went on as weirdly as it had begun, with Professor Moody using the other two Unforgivable Curses on the poor spider, ending up by killing it. And of course, the use of the killing curse didn't come free of all sorts of looks towards Laura's whose brother had been the only one to ever survive it.
Apparently, she had been there to see it. Obviously, she didn't exactly remember much. She had been only a few hours old, after all. But she remembered flashes, not knowing if they were memories or simply her own imagination.
She remembered her mother speaking to her. She didn't know if it was really her mother, because she had never heard the sound of her voice, but she was saying that she was loved. Laura and Harry were loved, she said.
She had been in her mother's arms when she had been hit by the curse. Remus had found her on top of her mother's dead body, crying.
Needless to say, Moody's class had affected her quite a bit.
Soon enough the end of the month arrived. On the 30th of October, Laura and Hermione had been sitting in the study room that had been rearranged to host the Goblet of Fire. They had been watching all day as students put their names in.
Then Cedric walked in, surrounded by at least three girls. Laura found it pathetic. Yes, Cedric was very good looking, but the more they followed him around like paparazzi, the more he would want them away form him.
Either way, everyone in the room cheered when he threw his name in.
As Cedric was walking away, Fred, George and Lee walked into the room, sending the Hufflepuff dirty looks, which he responded with a confused frown. Ignoring them, he sent a smirk to Laura, who smiled back at him.
Fred and George soon walked closer to the goblet, and their intention became clear as soon as the girls spotted the two vials on their hands.
"It's not going to work," Hermione sing-songed. Laura snorted at her attitude. She always loved cocky-Hermione.
"And why is that, dear Hermione," Fred asked, sitting right next to her, close enough that his head was almost upon her shoulder. George did the exact same thing on her other side. Laura was surprised they seemed to just ignore her, and to be honest, it kinda hurt. She ignored it, of course, and went back to reading her book.
"See that?" she pointed to the ground, apparently unbothered by the twins's approach. "Thats an age line."
"See this?" George retorted, showing her the vial in his hand. "This is an aging potion. We brewed it this morning."
"Yes, that bit we already knew, Georgia," Laura rolled her eyes.
"Did ya', now, Ginge?" George said with a wink thrown her way.
"My point was: this was made by Albus Dumbledore himself," Hermione continued with a smirk, pointing at the floating line on the ground that surrounded the cup. "Do you really think a silly thing as an aging potion could fool Dumbledore?"
"Well, we're about to find out aren't we?" George told her, standing up with his twin. "Ready Fred?"
"Ready George," Fred answered, both uncapping their vials.
"Bottoms up," they spoke in unison before downing their drinks. The whole room was standing silently around them, waiting to see of it would go wrong. They shared one las look before jumping into the circle. The room cheered when nothing happened.
The gingers threw their names in the cup, and the room cheered once more. And just as everyone thought all was well, the Goblet's fire became untamable and it hit the Twins, spitting their papers up and sending them flying through the room.
Laura was quick on her feet, running to them as they started blaming eacho ther for their failure and began literally tackling each other to the ground.
"Boys!" Laura yelled, trying to pull one form the other. They suddenly had white hair and long white beards, and she could barely recognize them. She grabbed the one on the top and tried to pull them apart, Hermione following suit and grabbing the other. "Fred, George, stop!" She snapped. She could feel the twin tense under her grasp but they eventually stopped fighting.
"Come on, Madam Pomfrey is already dealing with a few students that already tried to use aging potions," Hermione told them.
She could only feel the tension that was created juss she left with Fred and George just as Viktor Krum and his friends walked in, ready to put their names in.
