The next day passed extremely quick. Laura had spent the day with Hermione as they studied for Arithmancy, the one class they had together, since they both took the test to study Advanced Arithmancy.
Soon enough, it was time for the feast. Dumbledore had asked them to sit with their correspondent houses, so Laura mumbled a goodbye to her friends and headed to the Slytherin table. She sat at the very back of the room, as far away from Malfoy and his gang as she could.
"Hello, Laura," someone said across form her. It had been the blonde boy she had met in the first day of school. His dark haired friend was sitting next to her. Alvin and Scott.
"Hello boys," she smiled back at them. "Where have you been? I haven't seen you two all year," she frowned. Something was definetely off with those two. "And why did you lie when I asked your names the other day?" she lowered her voice, not wanting the whole Slytherin table to know about them. 'Scott's eyes went wide, but 'Alvin' kept his calm.
"Sorry, we panicked. We were speaking to Laura Potter after all," the black haired boy said as he let out a laugh. Laura scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"Oh, shut up," she told him playfully. She hated this type of attention. "So what are your names?"
"My names really Al," he explained. "And that's Scorpius." That's a pure blooded name if I've ever seen one, Laura thought.
"Nice to meet you properly, then," Laura smiled and took a stop from her pumpkin juice.
"Wait, Al, what day is it?" Scorpius asked in a hush tone. Laura looked at the skull shaped goblet in her hand, and then at the pumpkin flavoured meals and desserts on the table.
"Does the Halloween feast tell you nothing?" Laura commented. Scorpius blushed and looked back down at his plate.
"It's your birthday, isn't it?" Albus asked her with a frown. Laura clenched her jaw. They didn't know her, which meant they only knew her birthday because they knew she was born on the day her parents died.
"Yeah," she mumbled.
"Happy Birthday, then," he smiled at her.
Laura gave him a hint of a smile. He probably didn't know he had been the first to wish her a happy birthday. She spent the day with Hermione, who probably knew it was her birthday but decided it was best not to say anything. She hadn't seen Harry the whole day, but it was usual of him not to wish her a happy birthday. The two people she usually spent her birthday with were simply ignoring her. Well, one of them was, and the other couldn't risk his friendship with his twin.
"Thanks, Al," she faked a smile and went back to his pumpkin juice.
The feast was soon over and Dumbledore took to his speech on how the people whose names came out of the goblet were blood-bound to the Tournament, and could not forfeit. They had to compete. Soon enough, the Goblet Of Fire was spitting out names.
"The champion for Drumstrang is Viktor Krum!" The Drumstrang school cheered, a long with everyone else who knew the world renowned seeker.
"The champion for Beauxbâtons is Fleur Delacour!" Dumbledore yelled, earning cheers form her whole school. Laura could not take her eyes away from the girl.
"The Hogwarts champion is: Cedric Diggory!"
The entire hall grew into cheers. Laura was delighted. She was glad the Champion wasn't a Gryffindor or a Slytherin, because that would only cause more rivalry. But she was also very happy for Cedric. If anyone deserved this it was him.
The three Champions were told to follow Professor Snape and the two Headmasters of the other houses, and they soon disappeared.
Just as Dumbledore was about to continue his speech, the Goblet of fire went crazy once more. It spat one more paper, and Laura tensed up, knowing this wasn't supposed to happen.
Dumbledore looked furious. Someone had obviously messed with the incantation, they were only suppose to have three champions, one from each school. Laura watched Dumbledore's expression go from anger to shock and to surprise.
"Harry Potter."
