"Good morning Second Years and good luck on your school year," he smiled. "As I heard, you began the year in Potions with our beloved professor Snape.""Beloved?" Asked a Gryffindor boy. The other students laughed slightly. Laurie smiled, but it quickly faded; she actually liked Professor Snape.
"Now come on. We are not here to talk about the other teachers. This is what we're dealing with today," he said, throwing his arms towards the wardrobe. No one moved. No one actually understood what he meant. "Really? No one knows what it is?"
Laurie knew, but she kept quiet. The last thing she needed was to be the teacher's favourite students and have all the other Slytherins making fun of her of her.
"Well," continued Lupin. "Inside this wardrobe, is your worse nightmare."
Some boys snickered. Lupin smirked.
"Don't believe me, Mr. Mykew?" He asked to a Gryffindor boy. "Then come here." The boy walked past the sea of people and stopped in the front. "Inside that is a boggart. A vicious creature that transforms into your worse nightmare."
The boy's smile suddenly dropped and there was a sight of terror on his face. The other boys snickered t his face.
"Do not worry, it's just an image. When it appears, you need to think about something funny an yell 'Ridikulus'! Everyone, after me, no wands, 'Ridikulus'!"
"Ridikulus!" Said the whole class together. Lupin smiled.
"Alright! I want a line behind Mr. Mykew!" Everyone rushed to the line. The children were very excited to turn their fears into ridiculously funny stuff. Laurie got herself into seventh place, right behind Ginny. Kyle Mykew stood, wand ready, as Lupin opened the wardrobe.
The boggart came flying out of the wardrobe, and subtly transfigured to change into a big snake. Enormous snake, almost as tall as the room itself. Laurie smirked. Snakes weren't that scary, but Kyle was shaking. The Professor had to remind him what to do.
"Ridikulus," reminded Remus. Kyle pointed his wand, shaky hands, at the big snake.
"Ridikulus!" Kyle yelled. Suddenly, the snake turned into what seamed to be an... inflatable Airdancer? Every single student started laughing.
Next girl, Nina Dalton. A beautiful black haired girl with eyes that looked like two sunshines. She was a Hufflepuff. Her twin brother, Waylon, was just behind her, another Hufflepuff. Laurie had to admit, he was quite the cutie. Anyway, as the boggart transformed into Nina's worse fear, it turned into, surprisingly, professor Snape.
The class was silent for a second, wondering what was going on. Laurie looked over to Lupin, who was cracking up silently, a hand over his mouth trying not to make any sound. They locked eyes and Laurie shakes her head, smiling.
"Ridikulus!" Nina said, pointing her wand to the 'Professor'. It transformed once more, finishing up as the same professor Snape, but wearing make up and high heels. The whole class cracked up laughing as Nina walked away from the line.
Waylon walked to the front and stood before the boggart. It turned into a statue. A statue of an angel covering its eyes. And Laurie, who had grown up with muggle parents, knew where that angel was from. No other student knew what it was. Laurie, even if she knew it wasn't real, couldn't keep herself from not blinking. Waylon seamed petrified from the fear. Laura walked to the front, soon besides him and whispered.
"It's not real. It's not a real weeping angel," she says.
"An image of an angel become an angel," he whispers to her. Laurie shivers. Okay, that was true. But still.
"It's from a show. They made that up. C'mon, do the spell and it will be over," Laurie softly said into his ear. She let the boy alone in the front and took back her place behind Ginny, who asked her 'what's going on?' with her eyes.
"An old thing I used to watch back at home," Laurie simply replied. Ginny frowned, but turned back to the front.
"Ridikulus!" Yelled Waylon, as a wreaking ball appeared out no where and destroyed the angel. The pieces of stone went up in the air and transformed into confetti, making everyone laugh slightly. As Waylon walked past the other student in the line, he smiled a 'thank you' to Laurie, who smiled back.
Justine Anderson was a Slytherin. She had dark blue eyes, almost black, and brown hair. Her boggart was a spider. Not any spider, a big tarantula that sent shivers down Laurie's spine. When she yelled the spell, all the spider's paws/legs were gone, it was just a sphere that turned into a football (not soccer, not American football, FOOTBALL! THE ONE WITH ONLY THE FOOT ON THE BALL!) and boinged around the room, before coming back an turning into a clown at Marcus Cruz's sight. He nearly screamed, the young Ravenclaw. Then quickly pulled himself together and yelled 'RIDIKULUS', making the clown explode into fireworks. The room cheered once more. It was Ginny's turn.
Ginny turned back towards Laurie, who smiled at her, giving her courage. When Ginny turns back, the boggart is now a giant bee. Ginny shakes but soon enough reaches her wand an yells the spell. The bee seamed to do a knot with its wings and fall to the ground, dancing the Salsa meanwhile. The class laughed.
It was Laura's turn, finally. As the boggart started to transform, Lupin seamed to realize what could happen. Laurie started at the boggart as it transformed into a hooded figure. It was when it started to fly towards the children that Laurie actually realized what it was. A dementor. She backed away, as Lupin threw himself in front of her, putting a protective arm around her small body.
"Hey!" He yelled, causing the boggart's attention to turn towards himself. The 'Dementor' turned into a full moon. The students thought it was weird. Why would a teacher fear the night? But Laurie knew why. "Ridikulus!" Lupin yelled, talking Laurie away from her thoughts. It created a hole and the air of the moon went away, as it flew across the room. "The class is over, children!" Yelled Remus over the mumbling of the kids. "Next class we'll continue the boggart thing alright?" The students walked away, but Remus took Laurie's arm.
"I need to talk to you," he said. Laurie looked over to Ginny, nodding, telling her to go without waiting. When all the student were gone, they walked up to Lupin's office.
