As they walked into the Burrow, they found Mrs. Weasley on the verge of having a heart attack. She wasted no time before wrapping her children in hugs, one by one, and then proceeded to do the same with the three she also treated as her own.
Before they even noticed, they were once again in the Hogwarts Express, heading into a new school year. Mr. Weasley had hinted that something special was happening at Hogwarts this year, but Mrs. Weasley shush him before he could give too much detail.
Laura and Ginny were in a compartment with the twins and their friend Lee Jordan. They were talking of the pranks they had planned for the beginning of the year, and also of the upcoming Quidditch season. That's when an owl flew into the open window of their compartment, dropping a letter on Laura's lap.
"Who's it from?" Ginny asked as Laura opened it excitedly. All of her magical friends were in the train with her, which meant it was probably from Remus or Sirius. As she read the name on the letter, she smiled.
"From Remus," she told her as she dove into her reading.
Hey Pixie,
Hope this summer wasn't as terrible as I think it was. If I thought it was safe, I promise I would bring you with me, but as you already know, it isn't. I heard you and Harry went to the Quidditch Finals. Are you two alright? Did you get hurt? I also wrote to Molly, but I haven't yet gotten a response and it's gotten me quite worried.
I hear this school year will be an exciting one, so I expect letters every week with news. Please do try to stay out of trouble will you? And tell your brother the same.
I also spoke to Padfoot not too long ago and he tells me to say the same. He's alright, by the way, we both are.
Stay safe,
Moony.ps. there's another letter in the envelope, be so kind to give it to the twins, I'm sure they're not that far.
Laura frowned at the request, but as she looked inside the envelope, there was indeed another, smaller, piece of parchment. She didn't quite know what Moony would want with Fred and George, but granted him the wish and handed the twins the piece of paper.
"What's this?" George asked her with a frown.
"What does Lupin want with us?" Fred wondered, an identical frowned upon his face. Laura only shrugged.
"I haven't read it, how would I know?"
Fred took it and immediately opened it between the two of them. While normally the two would have similar reactions and expressions on their faces, it was quite comical to see that this time they hadn't.
George snorted upon reading it till the end, and instead of laughing along, Fred blanched, eyes wide. He closed the letter back up with shaky hands and handed it to George.
"Oh no, you can keep that," he said snickering.
"Oh, great," Fred mumbled. "Thanks," he said putting the piece of paper back in his pocket.
"Is someone gonna tell me what's going on?" Lee finally spoke up, just as confused as Laura and Ginny who has watched the whole thing happen.
"Nothing," Fred told him with a look that clearly said 'i'll tell you later'. Laura frowned. He was going to tell Lee but not her, which probably meant the letter said something about her. Laura looked back at George, who was still snickering in an attempt not to laugh, and she couldn't help the sudden self consciousness she was feeling.
Ginny immediately realised that, and sent a glare to get brothers, specially George because Fred looked like he had already been traumatised for the day.
"You two are such bloody idiots," she snapped at them, taking Laura's hand and pulling her along as she exited the compartment.
