I'm guessing everyone went to the meetings because they all didn't come up for an hours. I had already ate dinner. Then Bruce came in.
"Hey Bruce how was the meeting?"
"Good. But my concern right now is you. How much sleep did you get last night? The truth this time."
"None." I whispered.
"None? Cami. You have to get sleep, and did you even have a nap?" I could almost feel my eye go red.
"No Bruce. And you know why? Because I'll get nightmares. And I know what you're going to say. Everyone gets nightmares. Not like this Bruce. I see myself killing people, I see them cutting me to shreds, me bleeding out. I see very single horrible thing that I've done. And ill wake up screaming, I know it. It'll echo around just like the little girl. Just like everyone I've killed. I'm not going to go through that. I'm not going to get any sleep with the nightmares so why try?" I sat down, out of breath.
"Cami." He approached me slowly. "I know."
"No you don't. You don't even have a clue." And with that I stormed out, past every single Avenger coming from the meeting. They tried to stop me but I kept going. I ran into someone.
"Watch it kid." They said gruffly. I glared up at him.
"You watch it." I snarled back. I stormed away, back to the abandoned floor. I just needed to be alone.
Fury's POV
"You can go." I dismissed them all after the long meetings. I went out with Hill, and walked toward the jet when someone slammed into me."Watch it kid." She couldn't have been older than 15 and I had no idea what she was doing here. But before I could say anything, she glared up at me with one red eye and snarled,
"You watch it." And she stomped away. Did this girl not know who I was? And why was she here in the first place?
"Stark!" I saw him and called him over.
"What's going on pirate?"
"I just saw a girl, she bumped into me and stormed past. Any idea who she was?"
"Cami?"
"I don't know I was hoping you'd tell me who she was."
"Fury I have to deal with this, come back later."
"Stark. Stark!" I called after him as he ran away. I growled. I guess we were finding a girl named Cami.
Cami's POV
I sat sniffling by the window of the abandoned floor. They didn't understand, not one of them. I ran through my head what had happened, that man in the hall, who was he? There was a computer up here, so I searched the feed. Tony had taught me about computers, said I had a gift for them. I didn't see it. I got into the feed and ran the tapes. I gasped when I realized who it was. Nick Fury. I had been rude to Nick Fury. He must hate me. I tried not to cry. Everything was not going my way. I sat back at the window, watching the cars and people rushing past, wondering where they were going. That's when I heard footsteps. I sighed, thinking that Bruce was here to talk to me. But when I saw who it was, it surprised me."Hey Cami."
"Nat. They hate me don't they?"
"They don't hate you." I scoffed.
"Yeah right. And now Fury hates me too." I said bitterly.
"Cami. Cami look at me." I did and she came closer. "No one hates you. They're just worried."
"They don't understand, none of them do."
"Understand what?"
"The things I did."
"They keep you up don't they? The memories?" I nodded, and I quickly wiped a tear that fell. "That's why you don't want to sleep."
"It's worse than a nightmare Nat. It's reality. It's what really happened. And I can't change that." There was silence.
"You know what I did don't you?"
"Yeah."
"Then you know I'm just as bad as you."
"Nat. You've seen my stats. There's no way."
"Yeah well I'm close, and they gave me a chance didn't they? The nightmares kept me up too. Haunted me. But with the help of everyone, they're gone. And when they do come, there's people with me to help."
"I can't Nat I just can't. The last time I slept, it was alike I was living it again. I got taken. Next is all the training, the torture, I'm not sure I can deal with it again. And then comes the kills and the blood and the death. I don't-" I cut off as I choked down a sob. "Besides, I'm a burden enough as it is."
"Cami. Don't you ever think that. We all love you and we would never replace you with anyone." She had come and was holding me in her arms. We sat there, enjoying the silence.
"Nat?"
"Yeah Cami?"
"Can I stay with you tonight?"
"Of course."
"But, let's go through the vents. I'm not sure I want to see everyone yet." She laughed.
"Alright. Let's go. And it's good to see your eye isn't blue anymore." We crawled through the vents and eventually made it to Nat's room. It was only 9, but we had agreed I would try to sleep longer. I laid there while Nat was beside me.
"Nat?"
"Shouldn't you be asleep?"
"I can't sleep."
"Hmm well, how about this, I'll sing you a lullaby then we'll see." I nodded and laid my head in her lap. She stroked my hair as she started the song. It was beautiful, and soon enough, I was lulled to sleep.
I woke up shivering in a cell.
"Ah you're awake. What's your name?" There was a man crouched in front of 8 year old me.
"Amelia." I stuttered out.
"Well Amelia, here's what we're going to do. You're going to come with me, you have no choice." I tried to protest but he dragged me out, and into the room. I was strapped down, and they took blood, jabbing needles into me. They eventually threw me back, and I blacked out.
I wanted to wake up. But I couldn't. Another memory was coming, and I don't think it was all that pleasant.
