Peter's POV
I let myself down into the dark hole, and landed soundlessly on the floor. I quickly looked for something that could let everyone down, but with no avail."There's nothing down here to let you up." I say into my ear piece.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive."
"Alright we'll have to make do. Try to find a way for us to come down or just try to find Amelia."
"Roger that. Heh I've always wanted to say that." There were three directions in front of me, the usual left, right and forward. I tried to listen for anything to help me with directions, but it was silent. So silent it was eerie. Then I noticed there were small markings, words. One faintly read, 'holding block'. I went down the hallway, that was most likely where Amelia was. I slouched down the hallway, being as quiet as I could. The path opened up and there was rooms, most likely prison cells, that lined each wall. At the end there was one that seemed more closed off than others. A steel door, with no windows. That must be where she was. But then I heard something. Footsteps. I quickly ducked into the hall, hiding behind the wall. I saw a middle aged woman, ginger hair, pulled back by a bandana, and shocking blue eyes. She opened the cell door, revealing Amelia, lying on the ground, definitely hurt badly.
"Oh A." She felt around Amelia's stomach, looking for broken ribs. "None broken, that's good."
"Ma." I winced. She sounded horrible. And then I saw why. Her face had a huge cut on it, her arms were burned, and her voice was scratchy.
"You finally called me Ma." Who was this woman? "Listen you stay here don't you dare move." She left, running out. The door closed and I snuck over, wanting to get her out as soon as possible. But then a piercing screech rang in my ears. I clapped my hands over them; trying to block out the loud noise. Then the door opened and smashed me in the head.
"Woah! Who's there?"
"It's Peter."
"Oh Peter! I'm so sorry! Wait why are you here?" I clutched my head, getting hit with a door hurt.
"We came to save you."
"We? Oh everyone's here. Well we have to get out of here quick, before Ma comes back."
"Who is she anyways?" I asked as I got up and we walked down the maze of hallways.
"I don't really know. She was there when I got captured and she's the only one who's talked to me."
"Is she good?"
"I don't know." She sighed, clearly frustrated. Suddenly she stumbled.
"You shouldn't be walking." She waved me off and stood up on her shaky feet.
"C'mon we need to get going."
"Amelia."
"Peter." I sighed in defeat.
"Fine. Let's get going." We walked down the hallways, with Amelia stumbling from time to time. So far we hadn't run into anyone, but I wouldn't get my hopes up and I wouldn't jinx our situation by saying it out loud.
"Down here." We turned left and came to why looked like a training room of some kind. I looked over at Amelia to see her face darken. I didn't ask, I'm not sure I wanted to know the answer.
"This is as far as I would go, I don't know the rest of the building all that well.""I do." Both of us whipped around to find Ma standing there.
"Stay back." I held out a hand in warning. She chuckled.
"You won't be able to take me." I gave her a skeptical look, even if she didn't see it. "You don't believe me."
"No. Well ya. I mean," I stopped, not wanting to offend her.
"Yes I get it. I'm significantly older than you. But-" she was cut off as a bolt of electricity shot past her. "We need to go. Now!" She dragged us past, with only a quick look back. When she turned back her eyes were gleaming. Either with fear or determination, I couldn't tell. Let's just hope she knew where she was going.
Amelia's POV
Ma pulled us through the hallways, weaving and occasionally looking back with her gleaming blue eyes. They looked inhuman. Shots of bullets and electricity came shooting at us, sometimes they stopped, and I faintly could hear our pursuers cursing. We ran as fast as we could down the halls, following Ma, holding and praying that she was good and on our side. We arrived at the end of a hallway, blocked off with a door needing a key code."What now?" Peter asked.
"I need a blade." Ma said. She looked at me.
"It won't work for you. It won't do any harm unless I use it." She sighed in frustration.
"Fine. Spider boy, hold them off. Holler if you need help." Peter flew down the hallway, and I could hear fights start to break out. "Now, A. Get a dagger." I conjured one and asked,
"What next?"
"You're going to need to pick the lock."
"Why can't you?"
"The dagger needs to be sharp. I'm assuming it blunts if I hold it." I nodded. "Ok then you have to do it." She coached me through it, and I inserted the dagger in the lock.
"Um, sorry to interrupt. I might need some, woah!"
"Shit." I heard Ma mutter. "Stay here, pick the lock and shout when you're finished."
"What are you going to do?" She ignored my question.
"Just keep going."
"Ma!" But she was gone. I hugged in frustration and kept at it. Wiggling and jostling the dagger until I heard a soft click.
"I got it!""Good job! One second!" She yelled back. I wasn't hearing Peter, was that a bad thing? Ma came out a few second later.
"That'll get us maybe 2 minutes. Let's go!" She was holding Peters shoulders as he stumbled around.
"What happened?" I asked as we started to run.
"Blinding blast. Something new they cooked up."
"Yeah now I can't see."
"I'll wear off in a couple minutes. A, carry him."
"Fine. But only because I'm the only one who's not blind with super powers." I picked him up and slung him over my shoulder. A little heavy, but manageable. We started down the hallways again, trying to keep our distance from our pursuers.
"By the way, how'd you slow them down?"
"No time for questions A, save your breath." So we ran in silence, only our footsteps and puffs of breath audible. We crashed through another door and into a large room, where we skidded to a stop. Uh oh.
