- Lots of love, your author, AbbyI sat in Loki's room, head bowed while playing with my hands on his bed. He went about his business, doing who knows what, it looked like he was cleaning. At least he tried to look like he was cleaning, I could see him sneaking glances at me. Eventually he sighed and sat in front of me.
"You wanna tell me?" I looked up.
"I- I just..." I couldn't say it. I didn't notice I was crying till he hugged me and I could feel his shirt get wet again.
"I feel so pathetic." I mumbled."You're not pathetic." Shoot he heard that.
"Why? I'm sitting here crying into your shirt about stupid things."
"What sort of stupid things?"
"Because I'm a burden. Because I kill everyone I touch. Because my memories suffocate me. Because I just want to die!" I could see him stiffen.
"You what?" He whispered.
"Die. I want to die." I said bluntly.
"Look at me." When I didn't, he tilted my head up so I could see him. "Look, I know what that feels like." I was about to protest when he cut me off. "What it feels like to think you're worthless, to think you are a horrible person. What do you think I wanted to do after Odin told me I was a frost giant?" I sat shocked, I had no idea.
"But I've killed people. 94 people. Plus my two closest friends, plus a person I thought would be like a mother to me." I was getting choked up. "At least you didn't let people manipulate you for years. At least you didn't watch your whole family die in front of you. At least you didn't brutally murder a guy who didn't necessary deserve what you did to him."
"That's where I'll cut you off. That man did deserve that. He tortured you, and kept you there for years. He deserved everything you threw at him. And yes you've killed people, but who hasn't? Nat has a bad track record, Clint kills people for SHIELD, Tony was a playboy and I've tried to take over a planet with an alien army."
That caused me to chuckle a little.
"We've all had our faults, and I'm sure your friends and Ma have seen what you've done and are proud of you." I was smiling by now."Thanks Loki."
"You don't need to thank me. I'm telling the truth." I hugged him tight. "You think we can tell the others?" I thought for a moment. Even if they hated me, or thought I was burden, I knew Loki was on my side, and being Loki, there was no way he would go down easily. I slowly nodded. A rare smile came to his face.
"Alright. Let's go." We started to walk toward the common room slowly. As we grew closer I could feel a rush of anxiety kick in, and I started to pick at my hands, nails and lips. I felt a soft hand placed over mine, stopping me from ripping part of my nail off. I smiled gratefully at him and he grinned back, not letting go of my hand. We arrived and as he pushed open door I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. All at once, everyone bounded towards me, surrounding me and bombarding me with questions. Just as it was about to become too much, everyone froze, and retreated back to their seats. I removed my hands from my ears, and looked over at Loki, who had a trademark smirk on his face. He caught me looking and said,"They just needed a little bit of a reminder of how you are feeling." I smiled at him gratefully, even though he must have most likely threatened them. But as I looked back at the others, my smile was wiped off my face, reminding me why we were here in the first place. I spotted Peter and walked over to him, almost as an act over forgiveness. He hugged me and I hugged him back, grateful that he didn't hate. Then Bruce spoke up.
"Um, do you mind me asking why?" He was the only one who voiced his thoughts. I stared at my hands, grasping onto Peters almost like a life saver.
"I- I just didn't want to be a burden. I kept all of you worried and I didn't think you wanted to deal with me anymore. Plus I kill everyone I touch," I paused to take a deep breath, "I didn't want that to happen to you too." I almost whispered. Everyone was silent, and as I glanced around, I saw that everyone looked almost sad. Then Bucky stood up. I waited for some sort of shouting, and I closed my eyes, ready for the impact. But it never came. I just felt a warm and a cool arm wrap around me, pulling me into a hug. I felt all my muscles relax, and I melted into the hug. He pulled away and looked into my eyes.
"You will never be a burden. You never were and never will be. Plus, we're the Avengers, seeing how many disasters we've been I'm sure we can survive." He said sincerely. That caused me to tear up. They didn't hate me.
"I second that." Tony put in. "You think that we can't handle a Chameleon teenager? Please, we've been to space. Well some of us have." He glanced over at Nat.
"Seriously! Unnecessary Tony. I'll get you back for that." She glared at him, but ended up laughing.
"Don't worry we can be in the "Never Been To Space Club" together." I joked. He came over and hi fived me.
"Please you'll never get far, the bird boys are the superior club." Clint bragged.
"Um no. Bug Squad is way better dude." Peter protested.
"That's funny I don't see your other members."
"As far as I can tell, Katniss, your little gathering only has 2 members. When I looked last ours had 3."
"4. I pretty much count." Nat cut in.
"Ha! Beat that!" Peter challenged. Clint just scowled.
"See! Ya cant!""Ooh imma get you now spider boy!" Clint hopped up and rushed at Peter. His eyes widened and he jumped up onto the ceiling, right out of Clint's reach. He started to run away, still upside down, while Clint was yelling at him. Tony was watching them, cheering for Peter, Nat had gone to catch Clint, sighing, Loki and Thor had somehow gotten into an argument, meanwhile Bruce was just sitting watching the chaos.
Life would never be normal. Especially when your living with the Avengers, but hey, why would you want it any other way?
